Saturday at Manly Dam trails

Lets do 2-2.5 hours riding this Saturday at Manly Dam and the surrounding trails. The ride will take in parts of the Dam circuit, the Possum/Kevin Costner single track and the Pipeline fire road. I have ridden this area many times and do the regular Dam circuit (10.5km) in a sub 40 minute time, so I'm looking for experienced riders like myself to join me on this ride.

Last years ride was another great outing with near perfect weather on a fairly dry and dusty Perimeter/Long trail. This year's edition offers more of the same and, falling on Xmas eve, hopefully everyone will bring their Xmas cheer.

End of Quarry Road, Hornsby - Parking is well signposted, directing cars to park at the END of the road. If this is full, park in the Dural Street carpark.
OMV finally reopens!
And for those who may not have heard, I've had an interesting time over the last few months recovering from some health issues.
I've been getting about on the roadie but this will be my first "proper" ride on dirt for about 5 months. It's also a "**** you" to the unimaginative specialist who said "find another sport".
Pace will be steady. Looking to put some base kilometres in the legs.

I'm a beginner. I'm going whether its a thunderstorm or not. Sometimes I have to walk downhill cos it looks too scary. Sometimes I have to walk uphill cos it's too steep.

The 2017 Gear Up Girl ride for ladies will be on Sunday 12 March. This ride is held to promote women's health and is sponsored by the Heart Foundation and run by Bicycle NSW.
There are 20km, 40km and 60km rides to choose from on this fun day for lady riders.

Last year's event was great fun that saw hot temps, an elite rider discovering the joys of social riding and a select few conquering the "Long Trail pinch". Hope you can make the 2016 edition which promises more of the same i.e. a relaxed ride from Terrey Hills shops along Perimeter and Long Trails and back again.

Looking for a moderate intensity spin as I try to rebuild some base fitness after a busy period at work, and some ITB niggles that have been limiting my riding since late April.
I'll be riding out from my place near Frenchs Forest East around 0720, along Forest Way and then MV Road to the meeting point if anyone wants to join for some extra K's on the road.
The plan is meet at the RFS and head down Booralie Rd to enter via the Jap School at Echunga Rd to start with and if the trail is dry enough come back via Nerang Rd.

There's a small parking area on Caley Drive next to the trail head. This is approximately 2.1km South from the larger road junction (circle) at Mt Annan Drive and approximately 1.4km South of the main car park.
Access to Gardens is via main entrance on Narellan Road.

Explanation: I (Rob) sadly cannot ride in Sydney at the moment but it's been asked what happened to the social rides. Back in the day we used to always ride somewhere on Saturday/Sunday (or both) and post this up for anyone to join. So I'm posting this in the hope that if this kind of ride is for you, you'll come along and maybe meet some new faces or simply have fun with the same old crowd

Wylde MTB Car park and Trail head is just off Elizabeth drive located next to the Sydney International (Cecil Park) Shooting Centre. The turn off can be found on the left 3km Due west from the M7 Motorway or on the right 600m Due East from Mamre Road.
Early morning hit out, 3 laps or so at just over 40 minutes per lap. Need to leave by 10 at the latest. Will be leaving Wahroonga at 6:30 and have room for one more if you want a lift

Normally cross Wakehurst Parkway from the top of Manly Dam, or there are a few spaces so you could park up at that point too.

Ourimbah semi-serious social

Enter via Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. On your right will be 'TreeTops' for the kids and it's large-ish carpark. Carry on past there and the first small clearing which is were parking used to be, and is where the 'Browns' single track turns (you might see riders on your left here). Please do not park in this car park.
Parking and official trail head is now designated a further 350m or so up the road where there is a larger area. There's a CCOMTB notice board here by the trail entrance (on the left as you drive up the hill). Park up nose to curb or as directed.
I haven't ridden this track for ages, probably a couple of years. Time for an expedition!

Its on again ladies and germs - last year's ride saw sunny skies and lots of smiles (no red mankini's in sight), be a part of it.
A casual ride through Ku Ring Gai national park starting at Terrey Hills and traversing along Perimeter and Long trails and return via some sweet muppety st ives singletrail (see what I did there). An option for either a 22 or 45km round trip is offered, there are always plenty of people doing either distances so you won't be alone whichever distance you choose.

Forestville Park, end of Currie Road Forestville
Held on the last Tuesday of the month, “Dirt Nights” is a social event for all MTB riders, clubs and suppliers. Come along to meet up with other riders and chat about all things MTB or incorporate the event into an evening ride.
Licensed bar (cash only), $10 buffet dinner and live music! Lots of cool raffle and lucky door prizes given away.
If you’re a beginner or just want to learn more about mountain biking, this is also a great opportunity to meet up with other riders and learn more about this exciting sport.

“Dirt nights” is held on the last TUESDAY of every month so that MTB riders, Clubs, trail builders and suppliers can meet up for a social evening to chat about bikes, trails, tricks and tips.
If you’re a beginner or just want to learn more about mountain biking, this is also a great opportunity to meet up with other riders and learn more about this exciting sport.
Feel free to come along for the get together opportunity or incorporate this event into an evening ride. Nearby trails include Manly Dam, Ghania and Serrata.
Spring Cycle 2015

North Sydney
The 32nd Spring Cycle will be held on 18 October 2015. This is Sydney's largest community cycling event and run by Bicycle NSW. It is your only chance each year to ride over the main deck of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Cahill Expressway.
Choose from 12km City Ride (finishes at Pyrmont), the 50km Classic Ride, or the 105km Challenge Ride.
