Great North Road Training Ride - Take 2

Haven't been up there since the infamous Easter Monday GNR Training Ride over Easter (http://nobmob.com/node/20709)

Looking to do around 50 k's at a fairly brisk pace - more of a training ride rather than social. Heading out GNR about 25 km out and back, return via Shepherds Gully descent, then back along the road to the ferry.

Lets keep fingers crossed for some sunshine on this ride ! Smiling

To be rescheduling after the %%$^%#$ weather reports advised about the winds scheduled, and the tracks are probably covered with fallen trees.

The pace will be "brisk social" - This will mean a couple of stops will happen at the creeks and the helipad, though besides that I want us to be able to move along at a fairly rapid pace, so it'd be preferable to ride with people with a higher degree of fitness.

Starting with a run along Shaw's Ridge, down the fast and loose descent into Bluegum Swamp then up the beast that is Bee's Nest to the lookout. From there we heading along Springwood Ridge, down the really steep technical descent into the Grotto. Then we'll hang a left and ride through Bluegum in reverse, back up the grinding Shaw's hill, along Shaw's Ridge in reverse.

Well this track was a real eye opener when a Nobmob groupride experienced it a couple of weeks back.

It's time for a followup, and should be even better on a faster dryer track after a solid week of dry windy conditions.

It's 100% singletrack and we will ride at a social pace. I also wouldn't mind a couple of stops to get a few photos of the terrain features.

See you there.

EDIT: Hot tip - BRING CLEAR SUNNIES.
