The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Ride Database Entry:
Ourimbah State Forest
Meeting Point:

North End of Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. There's a large-ish parking area here, just off the main sealed road. There is also a smaller parking area a little further (400m or so from the road) where the trail splits - this second area is the usual meeting point. If you end up driving up a steep hill you've gone too far.

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Ride Database Entry:
Red Hill
Meeting Point:

Red Hill Reserve car park, off Lady Penryhn Drive, Beacon Hill. Another option is to ride over here from Oxford Falls.

I'm planning to ride a big loop that covers pretty much everything up there. Starting from the usual meeting point, head over to the down hill track, back up the 4wd track to the top, rim ride, drop zone and whatever else we find whilst there.

This will be a fairly easy paced ride, but probably not suitable for those not comfortable with the rough stuff. Leave the lycra at home and bring the big bike.

EEEK DATE CHANGE!!!!

The trails in this area have a bit of everything and impress all that ride them, there's plenty of fast downhills and wonderful single track with techy bits to keep you on your toes. It's not considered hard but you will need good braking control, I wouldn't recommend this for beginners.

**CHANGE OF PLAN**
As there has been quite a bit of rain in the last 24 hours, the trails I was originally hoping to ride will be a little too damp for a fun ride tonight.

So, off to duckhole and centre track meaning we can be back in time to order food at the tavern instead.

I will be blindly following the red or blue arrows around untill i get tired of the best singletrack around , if i dont get lost .....
And all going well scoot off to Stromlo for a hot lap of the Std XC Course ( well not that hot at 45-47 min night laps for me ) If there is anyone here to keep me company i could be convinced to explore some more but as the place feels to me like Wolf Creek at night, on my own i only have the courage to bolt around one time

I do have to work the next day but am planning to run around Bermagui MTB park the next night and all are welcome also

Wanting to get back to some fun riding now that all the big races are over for a little while, the idea was to ride the DH tracks & ease back into some DH riding.

There are quite a few trails to choose from to cover a wide range of abilities although you will require reasonable bike skills. This ride is NOT for new riders!

If you feel like you need your armour bring it along & please know your own abilities.
Everyone rides at their own risk.

Hope to see some of you there Smiling

For those not going to the Dirtworks or those that want some fun before putting there body through some punishment the following day, I'm planning on doing 4 laps of the standard XC loop.

I expect to do 2 laps, stop on the way have some fun on some of the trickier stuff if people want and then after a break at the cars, go out and do 1 or 2 more laps.

I'm going to bring my small camp stove, water, a kettle, etc, along with some tea and coffee for everyone so we can have a cuppa after the first two laps and then at the end. Just need to bring a cup.

And a bike......

As I missed riding last weekend I need to get a decent distance in before DW. So I'm planning on doing around 50km to fire the legs up and feel a bit better for next Sunday (althougn I'm doing the 100km so will have to wing the 2nd half!).

Plan is to do Centre/Duckholes or whatever and then a few trails accessed off the road into Ku-ring-ai. Then maybe Perimeter/Long depending on how I feel.

Pace will not be quick but I don't plan on larking about Smiling

Open to all and somebody with a bit more familiarity of the trails would be most welcome.

Looking to ride for approximately 3 hours on mainly the XC trails around Menai.

As usual will be a moderate pace, with some fast flowing single, XC type technical sections and some tricky climbs. A reasonable to good level of fitness will be needed to complete the 3 hours as the riding at Menai is fairly hard, but there will be a couple of bail out options for those finding it hard going.

Ok, i am going to go from Cascades to St Ives Oval to Duck and Centre and back again – anyone fancy doing this with me? I am thinking this will be my last 'long' ride before the Dirtworks - If Paul twist my arm I may consider adding in going down Ryland and around the perimeter as well but not sure about extending it that much..!!!
Roid boys need NOTreply as this will be a Blondie training ride at Blondie speed...I will stop somewhere for a snack too!
i am guessing this ride will end up being about 35ks? or 40? In fact, I have no idea, it will probably feel endless. lol!

Last big training ride before the dirtworks.

Simple plan: Ride up Devines Hill, then continue on GNR for 35ks then back same way but down Shepherds Gully and back on road. This should be about 80ks of excitment.

Note, this is training - No stops unless neccessary (mechanical and eating) and good pace which means around 18 - 20km/h on the flat sections and full blast on the down sections. Hence, a good training ride for anyone who aims at finishing dirtworks in 6hrs or less. I set the group limit to 4 as larger groups tends to be slow.

This is my cross-country up-hill training ride. Long enough to have a similar elevation required for Dirtworks, close to home enough for a good rest after.

Please take care (observe the speed limits) on descends from the gates down to creek, and watch-out for walkers. On recent rides, i have seen more bike riders than walkers.

As Tien deemed Cascades too wet for this Saturday, I have decided to repeat last weeks ride.

Centre (backwards), Waratah, Salvation, Towlers, Elvina, Duck Hole (backwards), then Perimeter/Long tract to complete. Pending how I feel after all that I might go do duckholes/centre one more time as well.

This is a cross-country training ride with moderate speed, with a bit of the black stuff.

Bring plenty of water/food.
