Hornsby Council XC single track update - next step to make it happen - emails written now as the time for comments closing soon

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I have some feedback from council. The proposal (as posted by Noel) is out for comment from the public. They will take the feedback from the public (us) and assess the level of support for each area of the Unstructured Recreation Draft Plan. Its pretty simple. If there is a lot of support from the public for a particular area of the plan (for example bushwalking) then they will progress it and put it to council for a capital works plan. If there is not a lot of support then it will be canned.

There have not been a lot of letters/emails written in support of a XC track so as it is it may not carry a lot of weight.

The times for comments closes in about a week.

Where to ride?

We've just moved here from the UK and are looking for places to ride but we don't have a car. We went to Manly Dam last weekend (rode from our place in Neutral Bay) and we're looking for somewhere else to explore this weekend. Any suggestions? We've heard Oaks is accessible by train but are there other places? Also can anyone recommend a trails guide?

Thanks guys

Bethan

How is the Oaks Trail looking recently?

Hello fellow MTB’ers

Has anyone ridden the Oaks Trail in the Blue Mts recently? I know they were doing some pretty major Maintenance work on it a month or 2 ago.

What kind of condition is it in? is it now like a smooth highway? I hope they haven’t touched the Singletrack!!

Del Sin

Ok managed to get myself down Wisemans Ferry way for some DH action with the WSMTB club at their new little venue At the Del Rio Water Ski Park.

Wow. Nice techie trail in a very pretty gully with some big drops, techie roll downs and fast single track.

WSMTB put on a good show and the Del Rio resort have given them a bit of room to play with the DH track up and running a freeride area under way and XC trail in the works.

"Pennant Hills Park to West Pymble
10 km, medium difficulty

A scenic ride that takes in the variety of vegetation types and offers great harbour and city views and nice spots to stop for picnics."

because mountain bikers are all riding round with picnic hampers i guess?

and the "useful link" underneath to rta bicycle maps has interesting results when u click on it...\\

Anyone up for an Andersons + Oaks this sunday ?

I'm thinking of riding Andersons + Oaks this sunday. I didn't get a chance to ride the late one organised here.

So would anyone be interested in a medium-fast paced ride catching the 9.23am train from Glenbrook (or 8.18am from Central) ?
I didn't do the Dirtworks last weekend Sad which is why I'm keen for this long ride Smiling

Cheers,

Yellowmundee ride

Last friday I took my son and a friend out to Yellowmundee Regional Park for a ride. I had looked at in Google Earth and it looked interesting. We all had a really great time. It is strictly 10km xc (80% single track/20%firetrail)circuit with a couple of technical drops into creek crossings and some zig-zag descent downhill. If anyone would like to try it out I am keen to go again. Also a beautiful drive out through Richmond returning through Spingwood. Good ride of beginners who want to test a number of there skills and get fitter.
