Bike hire around Sydney
Hi There,
I'm seriously considering a dual suspension bike, possibly a trance depending on the budget allocated by my minister of finance. I would really like to try a bike out for a weekend so I am curious if anyone knows of any bike shops that do this kind of thing?

Wildflower Garden update for 17 Aug
The locked gate on east side of the garden is a small annoyance. Have a look around and it becomes obvious how to bypass though. Trail directly behind the gun club is very soggy still.

Cascades update for 17 Aug
Still a surprising amount of standing water on heath track, but ride around that and you'll be good. Some huge gouges in the trail there from a 4WD or something. No water flowing over the large causew

Downloading to GPX/CRS and Garmin
i have been trying to download the trail maps from NOBMOB to a garmin gps. the KML files open perfectly fine in Google Earth however i have been unable to convert these files to a .gpx or .crs file. i think the issue is that the .kml files that come directly from the website have embedded http:// links to other data files. google earth seems happy to dynamically pull these links in however all of the conversion utilities that i can find just port the "http://blahblahblah" link and thus not the base coordinate data.
help?

I was meant to be on holidays over that time, so i didn't enter. Now we've moved the holiday back 2 weeks and i'd love to do the Fling.

Bike hire in Rotorua?
Anyone able to give some advice on were to hire a decent AM/Trail bike in Rotorua?
Was going to take my own bike but I have heard some horrors about the low budget airlines and excess baggage charges..

Hillfest + 4 gates = Fun
Slight change of plan for this ride. Instead of doing laps of 4 gates we decided to hit the Northern Beaches Hillfest circuit and put in a lap or two at the end if possible. I knew this would come in around 45Km and 1300 vertical plus a single 4 gates say, would be around 1700 vertical and 60km but it came up slightly less somehow - I blame Garmin Connect - it's vertical calcs are a little off and doesn't show altitude half the time 
Lance wins Leadville in record time
Seems scumming might be good for MTB training after all!

Lance finished first in record time and 25 minute gap. Riding on a flat rear tire. Wonder how long it was flat for? Tire was flat for 10 miles according to this:
