Chain Reaction Cycles is the Northern Ireland Post Office's biggest customer.

I'm not surprised!

How the bike industry works

Reposting from my nobmob blog as I think this deserves to get a wider airing.

This is an interesting Wordpress article series I came across yesterday surfing from site bicycles.net.au. From what I read here it looks to me like the current phase of structural adjustment in the bicycle market with the rise and rise of on-line selling seems to me to be in large part due to the bicycle manufacturing industry's own poor inventory management practices. It also confirms what many of us suspected about the supply chain.

Read on to see what I mean:

Chain Rection order - now closed sorry

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi guys, well here is another Chain Reaction order you can be part of...

I'm currently looking at getting around AU$270 worth of stuff, and paying AU$52 delivery.
I am around $330 short of qualifying for free postage so thought i'd see if any other NobMobers would like to add to the order, saving on postage and possibly reducing it to $0. Smiling

I am looking at placing this order online on {edit} Thursday morning (8am), 14/08/2008 {edit}.
Also note that i would like to keep this order below $900 to avoid any issues with import duty.

So, any takers?

Cheers,
Will.

CRC Differing Prices

I have noticed something very strange with the CRC website prices. They seem to differ depending on what PC you are browsing the site from. For example, the prices are higher when I order something at home than when I am at work.

Also Lozza is checking on his PC at work (mascot) right now and they are higher than what I see here at my work PC (circular quay).

What gives!? Sad
The difference is quite significant too. When he opens the wishlist I sent through to him it comes in at 293 GBP when I see it as 250 GBP!

Anyone experienced the same thing?
