Elixir <> Juicy hose swap?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

So... I've purchased a set of ElixirR brakes and fitted the front one to the Yeti - all good.

Ah... but then came to fit the rear and discovered the hose is around 20cm shorter than that on the Juicy 7 that's coming off there. Doh!

AM riding: Avid Elixir 'v' Juicy 7

For an All Mountain bike with 185mm disc front and 160mm rear... would you rather use Juicy 7s or Elixir R? Has anyone ridden both on a similar bike to compare?

The point being, I was going to pick up some more 7s for another build but thanks to someone here will pick up some Elixir cheaper so now have a set of each and using the Elixir on my 575 becomes an option.

I'm really very happy with the 7s to be honest and think I'll keep them where they are. That is unless anyone has a good reason to try the Elixir on Mr Yeti?

Opinions?

Should I get some Elixirs?

I'm interested in upgrading my brakes from Juicy 3s to possibly the new Avid Elixir R. Not being the biggest tech head I was wondering if i could get some advice first.
- Will this be a worthwhile upgrade or should I save my pennies for something better?

I have spotted this set on e-bay for what I consider a decent price ($300AUD inc postage) but am a bit concerned about a few things:

Rush Bling & Lefty Removal

Thule Work Stand

Over the last couple days have been upgrading a few parts on the Rush as it's hand-me-downs are going to a new build that's in the making.

The Rush got some Juicy Ultimate brakes (on special - couldn't resist), an XT crankset, Selle Italia SLR XC saddle and some Eggbeater SL pedals. As I say, the parts that came off are going on another build so easy to justify! Eye-wink

Slight Annoyance

What's wrong with this picture? Sad

I'd noticed that the bolts on these J7's were rather tight last couple of times, now this one is completely bound and the head snapped on removal.

As you can see I cut a screw head in it but still no joy. Mole grips and WD40, then file edges maybe for more grip, then drill small hole in it and use some bolt removing fandangle cupcake mentioned to me.

Is this a lesson to always grease bolts when building your bike? Doh!
