Tourist needs info about mtb in the Blue Mountains

G'Day,

I'm going to visit Australia in January 2012 for my first time. At the end of my stay there are a few days left and I'm thinking about mountainbiking in the Blue Mountains. Unfortenately it's harder than I thought to find any information about in the web.

So I hope that you can give me these information or can give me some advice where I can find them.

I think I'm going to Katoomba by train, and I'm searching for:
- recommended accommodation
- bike rental ( where, available bike models, prices .... )
- bike tours; guided or available GPS-tracks

Royal National Park update for 15 Aug

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Entered from the Bottle Forest Rd parking area. Things are reasonable on the higher loop to Goarra Ridge, smooth and packed down. There are 2 or 3 large puddles to be managed.
While the Goarra Ridge loop is mostly ok, the wet areas are probably the wettest I've seen it. The pond entrance into the single track is large and the first 2m of the single track was mush so I didnt venture in, the firetrail instead is fine.
Clean run down the waterbars, but the decent down to the creek crossing is torn up.
Its ridable, but if I'd seen it first I probably would have left it a few days.

Do you have more information?

If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.
