Hi all. I've heard great things about the SRAM single track minds event at Awaba (23rd June) and are keen to do it in a team. I've done this event in Perth when I was living there and it was great fun. I would consider myself an intermediate/average rider and are not out to break records, just ride with some new mates and have some laughs. Guys or gals are fine, its all about the ride:-)

PM me if anyone is interested

One Hot Day

Mixed Doubles.

I had originally planned to enter this event as my first solo event, and crack 100km with some breaks in between laps. But due to some other events (including the weather forecast) I entered the Tuesday beforehand with a friend from work.

Still learning

chrischris's picture

This year is a huge learning curve for me. I still have to slow down a little at the start and pace myself.

Started off in 3rd at the end of the first lap & then slowly dropped to 7th. I felt terrible during the 2nd lap. Slow down Chris!

Going for a fun Sunday ride is one thing, the psychology of racing is entirely new to me. Always amazing to see the A graders race. Also amazing to finish a ride with a clean bike!

Great to back on the MTB. I'm quite bored of the road...

I can't figure out why, but I just felt shocking today. I have been training well & feeling well in general - but on the track today I just couldn't 'warm up'. I'd slept half okay (considering I have 2 young'uns) & eaten normally. I didn't start out too hard. I just don't know. I still find it really hard to know who is in my grade. Is a coloured arm band system silly?

In any case, great to be back on my fave bike! A little slippery, and muddy in spots. I hope the good weather keeps up.

Some fun at awaba vvc

Last time at VVC ... 10 hours of madness. A good day/night of riding.

How much rain has fallen at Awaba?

Well this image says it all,

Water Damage to the Awaba DH Trail.

This is a photo taken today of sediment runoff from Mt Faulk road onto the berm below the scorpion gap at Awaba. The road was freshly graded not long ago.

the sediment in here would be up to 500mm deep in the middle of the berm.

A lot of work had been done here in the past to make sure water coming from the road above doesn;t erode the trail, but we have never had a sediment deposit situation before.

Just a heads up that the Awaba VVC CLassic 10 Hour is on on Saturday 5th march.

Entries are open at http://www.twentysixinches.com/vvc/vvc-enter

What's the VVC 10 hour ??

The info is all at http://www.twentysixinches.com/, but to cut a long story short it's a race with the emphasis on fun. Entire teams can get out and lap together and the sausage sizzle and post ride brew are on us.

Riders are capped at 150 and we would love to see you there.

Awaba just keeps getting better and better. This colour coding is a great idea. More trails should adopt this.
