Whisperer's Yeti - Rear view
Joined the 29er movement. It's great, rolls like they say 29ers do, and really carves corners!
I thought long and hard about 29ers, and this one has a few really nice details.
- It has a 70 degree head angle, which is complemented by the new geometry of 2010/2011 forks - more rake, so they turn faster without having to go for crazy steep head angles.
- Really tight chain stays, it even has a direct mount front derailleur, so it doesn't get in the way of the tyre, and allows super compact rear end
- Modular drop outs. I've gone for traditional QR, but it supports single speed & 12mm bolt up
- Carbon rear triangle for some compliance
- slack seat angle (72 degrees), suits my position on the bike
- Tapered steerer, nice and stiff front end
I fitted the new Terralogic fork with 15mm axle, and it's really complimentary to the hardtail rear.
I also laced up Stans Crest rims to Hope ProII hubs, with DT supercomp spokes - 370g rims for a 29er is crazy light!
Currently running Conti tyres tubeless, I think they're around 550g, and without having 220g of 29er tubes at each end I save 300g with a good dose of Stans.
Overall weight with some heavy grips and bars is 11.4kg.

Sweet ride. I'm keen to hear a report after a few decent rides, especially how it feels without rear suspension again.
