Appin XC course

Just got back from a challenging lap of Appin ( and "Ankle biter " almost got me again) ,with quite some disapointment at the damage that 6 trail bikes have done to this great course . My question is , Are they allowed to be there and if not what is the best way to counter them ? there were six of them so a six motor bike rider V one mountain bike confrontation was not the way to go , specially with their full face helments ......although the passive agressive approach of riding at my pace with three bikes behind was satisfying in a juvenile way ...

Any thoughts , future actions ??

The cops were there a few weekends ago, giving the motoheads a waving finger but obviously, a one off visit aint gonna do it.
It is illegal to for trailbikes to be at Appin and the local residents were the ones that had called the cops constantly.

Its a little heresay with the motoheads. For eg, we use "their" course at Menai that they built and we get along with them co-operatively in terms of trails. Yes, they do bring our reputation down with their noisy sport but its a tough one.

As far as sharing trails is concern, they use fire trails and our single trails are too narrow for them so its very rare that confrontations occur.

Best suggestion, call the cops as an anonymous caller or pretend to be a resident

BUT they were only interested in riding the single trail and making rooster tails at every opportunity . A quick call to the cops will be in order next time , now that i know ...

Every time I've ridden Appin I've come across motos. In the 8hr race a month ago I even came across two 4 wheel drives on the fire trail, I had to yell at so I could pass them.

Like us the locals are fed up with the motos, a local I was talking to has said the more often the police get reports they are in there, the more often they will send their squad out. The fence you see at the car park took them two years of campaigning to get installed in an attempt to keep the motos out. To my amazement the other week I watched as a moto rider rode up to the chain across the scout hall entrance got off stood on the chain which was loose enough to hit the ground and them simply rolled the bike across. The fence at the back of the course has also been destroyed so they get access that way also.

Maybe someone could contact the local papers, they may be interested in running a story?
