Anybody know if there tend to be many horses on the Perimiter / Long track early morning, between 7-8am?
Thought I might go for a quick blast out and back before work rather than the road option round akuna bay.
Cheers

My sister does!!
She rides before work...
If you see her, please stop - her horse doesn't really like bikes - she has blonde hair (true!) and her horse is bay (brown with a black mane and tail)

the short answer is yes. I've seen more horses there mid week am than any other time of the week and have never had a problem with any of them.

Key think is to be polite and make yourself known well before you try and ride past them, particularly if approaching from behind. Always call out and say hi and don't forget to ask them if they want you to stop or keep riding. My experience would suggest some do like you to stop but others prefer you to keep riding at a steady pace. Don't forget to keep talking as you ride past, that way the animal will have a better chance of knowing what you are Eye-wink

that because they don't have opposable thumbs, nor in fact fingers, they don't handle the brake levers as well as some mtb'ers so it takes them a while to stop.

Ohhhhhh - that's why they ride singlespeeds too. DUH.

Ok, good to know, I've usually ridden the track after work and come across the odd rider here and there. Never had a problem with any of them but wasn't sure if they were out early during the week.
I'll be sure to keep an eye out for your sister Blondie, do I call her Blondie too or would she be insulted Eye-wink
