Great Story - I dont feel as guilty now to the LBS, knowing that CRC was once a LBS itself.
Also, I now know what a flood sale refers to. Best to stay away from that stuff.

I used to work in retail many years ago and if a shop had a flood and some stock was damaged, the retailer was often allowed to sell the damaged stock after an insurance claim. We would be offered boxes of stuff that the water had barely touched, or the bottom layer of stock in a box was wet but the rest was fine and often the entire box was the cost of one item.
In the UK, the retail laws are pretty strong (like here) so they must describe it's condition clearly if there is any damage and often it's just the packaging. Of course a 3 foot high flood may be slightly different.
I think now they have a flood sale as a kind of anniversary rather than regularly getting flooded - that would just be bad luck and poor management otherwise
