Facts required... Manly dam

One of my friends who is a printer ( and rider) very kindly has agreed to print flyers for us to put in the bike shops. I will make them... Dl size, which is envelope size. Will any of you be happy to help distribute to bike shops please? We were thinking from mona vale to turramurra to chatswood to manly and the city ones.

Also, I will get A4 flyers to put at the trail entrances so help there will be good too please... All trail entrances so we can get to as many riders as possible to show to the protest.

Also, I am happy to do a press release but I need FACTS for this. It's no good saying 200 people ride the dam on a Saturday without substanciated evidence. So, if you have any non emotional facts please can you email them to me?

Thank you!

MEEE

I can drop flyers off to northside avanti, cranks chatswood and since KOM is on the way to work I can drop flyers off there too...

Also good to get people writing in - if we could refer to NOBMOB site for council details and ask people to get emailing.

Was gonna say I know the guys in Cranks Chatswood fairly well, so could drop them in, but looks like it has been covered.

So I can help with flyers at trail the entrance at Allambie Heights.

Please bring these down to Bike Addiction in North Manly. We'd be happy to distribute any & we already have heaps of questions from customers & fellow riders about the events taking place in support of Manly Dam. Great work everyone!

Happy to drop some into Clarence Street cycles and City Bike Depot (are there any other bike shops in the CBD)?

christine's picture

Please can you email me your postal addresses so I can send you flyers to drop off to the shops?
Can you also please let me know which shops you will be visiting so I can try to work out how many to send you all and also see if we have any shops left out?
Thank you!

Happy to deliver flyers from manly to narabeen, let me know if I am needed.

Right!
Many thanks to Greg of Lindfield Print who has run off 2,000 DL flyers and is also doing A4 laminated signs to be put at the trail entrances for free for us.
I will have both lots this afternoon so anyone who wants to deliver to bike shops please let me know and I’ll get them to you (thank you to the people who have already said they would!)
Anyone who is keen to nail the A4 signs at the entrances of trials on the Northern Beaches (cascades, terrey hills, west head, manly dam etc.) please let me know so I can get some to you.
I have lodged the protest request form with the police so we are all ‘legal’

Cranks, Chatswood and The Bicycle Shop, Roseville Chase, were both happy to spruik the cause and hand out flyers. The Bicycle Shop suggested we try and get a talkback radio host on-side and pushing the cause. The usage stats included in http://nobmob.com/system/files/Oxford+Falls+Plan... regarding MTB at the dam must be useful in justifying the MTB position, even if the report isn't written by an independant group.

A young man and his mother picked up the flyer while I was at Cranks. They were horrified at the news, and have offered to help get Knox students involved.

Could everyone with connections at their local school ask if a small note can be included in the weekly bulletin? A link to NobMob and a short outline should generally be acceptable to most schools. I know our bulletin is usually full of cake stalls and canteen rosters. This should make a welcome change for the time poor parents.

Thanks Christine for organising the flyers...

if anyone wants me to email them a pdf of the flyer please email me at [email protected] and I can send them to you to send to your mates or schools or wherever... either A4 or DL (envelope size) -

If i knew how to post a pdf on here I would but I don't

thanks again to delivery people - you have all been so quick off the mark!

Impressive effort Dangersean. I was just at Brookie Bike Factory picking up a new camel back and was handed one. Smiling

Does anyone have it in a PDF or something that could e-mail it to me. [email protected]

The Flyer made by Christine (a big thank you!) is now available for viewing/download. Please click the link below to open the file:

Edit: Link removed as MTBing at Manly Dam has been reinstated, thus a Protest ride is no longer necessary.

chica's picture

a special thumbs up to 3 of the 8 bike shops i went to today, whilst all 8 were happy to show their support, the below guys went a step extra to show their support to the Manly Dam cause:
Cheeky Monkey, Newtown - these guys said they will put it on their website/blog and will also let their customers know as they have a lot of bike messenger customer/friends that frequent MD.
Pedals Plus, Bondi Jn - very eager to support the cause and will also show up to the protest ride
Maroubra Cycles - will also post it on their blog

Buck's picture

Now the breaking news seems to be that MTB's are allowed again. If this protest ride were to be cancelled how are we going to spread the news that there is no ride anymore on the 6th?

I sure hope anyone that has picked up a flyer has looked at the websites on the bottom!

ido09s's picture

I wont believe it till i see it from the Dam Rangers on the mail out list and i have seen at least 20 riders say the signs are gone!

Either way, lets leave the 6th as it is as i would love to see that many riders at the Dam all at once Laughing out loud Would be an epic ride!!!!

chica's picture

can someone in a responsible position or in the know (Hawkeye, Rob??) pls advise if we need to contact the above bike shops to ask them to recycle the flyers given the latest news.

ido09s's picture

I reckon leave them there are keep the ride as is for now.

The war isnt won just yet and a show of people may still be needed.

I am sure the guys in the know on here will post up their thoughts

dangersean's picture

I think the best option is to email or call the bike shops and ask them to chuck the flyers out. If anyone who delivered wants me to contact the shops just email me who they are and I will do it tomorrow. Ba and supreme will already know.
Good outcome hey:)

chica's picture

will call them tomorrow with the good news.

dangersean's picture

All day! You were the distribution queen for that side!

marcel van schie's picture

How about we best leave the date in place until there is documented evidence that the ban has been lifted?

Our supporting Councillors spoke with elloquence and insight. They did a great job and we will support them come next round of elections (won't we all !!)

But agree that the meeting was very confusing ( We left half way as kids needed feeding) - imagine running business meetings in such a fashion - everyone staring into their microphones and screens trying to hide animosities, fears and other emotions !? - And i guess the motions need to be ratified before becoming council actions.

I can post here the moment i see the signs removed unless someone beats me to it. I will check every afternoon/evening.

ps: There is still going to be a Cafe2U coffee van at King Street on the 6th March from about 8.00am so I hope everyone turns up for a social and then celebratory ride !

PS: Well done for all of you who managed to escape work to turn up to the meeting. It was good to see so many there as well as being an excellent gallery presence.

O's picture

I've let the stores I did know of the outcome and cancellation.

christine's picture

mee too - again, if anyone cant get to their stores or wants me to call them please let me know...
