Disabled mountain bikers

Hi All

I am looking for some disabled mountain bikers.

I am a one legged rider from Canberra and I think some advice sharing could help. I am also keen to put a bit of a team together to do some racing in 24 hour or stage events. I also have an invite to the tour de timor for a team of disabled riders to help promote people with disabilities in Timor Leste.

So if you know or have seen some riders in your local area let me know how I might contact them or ask them to send me an email, [email protected]

Thanks

There was a guy riding a Surly Pugsley in the 2008 Sydney Spring Fat Tyre Festival who was a right hand amputee. Had both brakes and shifters on the left side. Would have been going like a one-armed paperhanger, but he did the event and rode really well. Saw him negotiate some of the more technical sections better than me! Some would say that's not hard, but I was impressed.

Hugh Flower at City Bike Depot may have contact details.

with ?? and his 2 mates, for a while at the Full Fling and last I know he was at the last transition (about 85km) still in time. Don't know if he finished, but he was very impressive!! He also rode with us once an a night ride at Terry Hillls.

I know where he lives, I have ridden home with him a couple of times, but embarrassingly can't remember his name either. He lives close to me and is no slouch. Next time I see him I will mention this thread.
