Cornering tips

Thought I had to share this as it seemed like a bit of a revelation to me yesterday!

I completely by accident discovered a cornering trick that works really well for me in tight singletrack and it made me at least 50% faster through the bends. OK everybody knows all the theory of how to corner properly, get your weight right and bike leaned over etc. but that's easier said than done. What worked really well to get me doing all this right was at every corner to try and get my inside elbow behind my inside knee, so say if you're turning right, try and get the inside of your right elbow to touch the outside of your right knee.

What this does is get your inside hand pulling back on the bars, your inside knee has to be up so your outside foot is down, your weight is a little bit forward and the bike's leaned over a bit, all in all a good cornering position. Like you're on rails!

Also remember it's good to practice this stuff on all the corners you take, not just the tight/tough ones so that it becomes second nature.

See you back Sydneyside in a couple of weeks.

Ta,
Matt.
