Glass on the local trails

I've become quite use to seeing crushed up glass when riding on trails around the northern beaches but rarely see glass scattered at other locations outside this area. Is the answer as simple as disgruntled locals?

I'm not so sure that it is disgruntled locals, I am more of the opinion that it is kids. I grew up around North Balgowlah and it was pretty usual to hear about so and so going into the dam to shoot sling shots at bottles. Or, when they get a bit older, they make great places for under age drinking. Drink teenagers, glass bottles, not hard to see how broken glass ends up left behind.

I too have come to believe that it is more than just coincidence that there happens to be glass smashed up into little pieces, especially near sandstone or special area's, and it always seems to be right where riders wheels would go. You never see the top of the bottle or a whole bottle or even larger sections. Its almost like someone pre prepared it into little tyre piercing peaces it at home. There is around 5 area's that i have come across it, which unfortunately leads me to believe it is not just coincidental. Just my opinion, but i hope I'm wrong

I don't know whether it's just bad luck that bike paths are next to roads that hoons throw bottles out of their cars on, but... there is usually at least one of two smashed bottles on just about every bike path I ride.

That said, on the trails I would imagine a large percentage of the glass is not malicious, probably just kids who don't know any better.
