Late reply from NPWS

While many people reported receiving this canned reply from Sally Barnes last month, for whatever reason I only got mine this week.

Which is a good thing I guess, because it reminded me to reply. I wrote back and brought up 2 points:

1. When talking about World Trail consultation and the possibility of single track Sally said, "I have asked staff to continue talking with representatives from the mountain bike fraternity on these trails." I pointed out that this work is not common knowledge, in fact, I haven't heard anything about it! I asked for details of these plans so we can spread the good news.

2. Sally used the same old, "It's not allowed in the PoM" excuse. I pointed out the Garigal PoM document is over 11 years old (it's dated November 1998) and that it does allow riding on Management Trails. Thus, all they have to do is label certain tracks as "Management Trails" and job done.

Not that any of this should be news to NPWS - I've been saying the same things to them for a long time.

One has to wonder how long they think riders in the Northern Beaches will sit by and watch their peers enjoy much better access in places like Royal NP, Blue Mountains NP, Glenrock, Yellomundee, etc. before they get sick and tired of trying to do the right thing? I tell you - 2 years plus of puttnig up with these excuses is really beginning to grind! <sigh> Sad

Hmm Yellowmundie as a good example of trail acess interesting. It won't be such a great example for much longer.

Yeah - I know there are issues with Yellomundee, but access is allowed there all the same - that is the point. Can't comment more - don't know enough about the history or what's going on there.

What's going on in Glenrock & RNP are certainly good examples though.
