just got back & have updated report-there was snake on trail but do not know what it was?.Smallish bright green with a yellowish belly-black eyes & tongue, was not scared of me when I skidded to a halt-it just stood its ground-then moved really quickly away on ground when I threw a piece of log at it. baby Brown snake perhaps?

Sounds like a brown. Where did you see it? I've heard of reports of black snakes before the chute.

Trails were great today, other than the new part of the red loop which was a bit wet. That will all be good when it beds in but it did look like not a lot of people ventured out that way.

How about a green tree snake .green- yellow belly thin max 1.8 m long but probably immature

I live just around the corner from Awaba, and decided to skip it. Thought it might be too wet...

I went for a ride instead up the watagans. I found out that the 'Mathews Valley Firetrail' has a great easy downhill track following the firetrail the whole way down! Smiling

The firetrail itself is a killer uphill trainer too. I haven't done it once yet without putting a toe down at least once. Oh yea - 1st snake of the season for me too. Red bellied black.
