Cannondale - gone?

I was looking for details / availability of an aftermarket Lefty fork for my next project (29'er); and noticed that a number of the traditional Cannondale dealers (e.g. Bike Addiction, KOM, Turramurra Cycles etc) have decided to no longer stock C'dale. Some were citing quality issues with the frames (not forks) over the last few years.

Does anyone know more about the fate of C'dale dealers in Sydney; and possibly point me to a reasonably priced supplier for a (warranty covered) Lefty fork that can be modified with a www.Project321.com adapter for a tapered headtube?

Thx in advance.

Hey Hans,

Speak to Aiden and the crew at RLC Sport in Brissie... soon to be my new LBS Eye-wink

Pedals Plus in Mona Vale are now a stockist. They service my cannondales and do a great job.

Another vote for RLC Sport. CBD in Kent St is another place you could look. Manly Cycles is another.

I think the quality issues with frames is an old issue that keeps getting trotted out for some reason. Since frame manufacture has shifted to Taiwan, I'd have expected QC to have improved. If greater-than-average rates of frame failure was still an issue, I'd be expecting to heaer similar quantities of noise from independent sources, such as we've seen with Scott frames over the last little while.

Manly Cycles have also departed from the Cannondale stables... Having spoken personally with many of the former stockists, the issues stemmed from lengthy delays with warranty issues, and the perceived lack of empathy towards retailers and customers with cannondale issues. Many former stockists have said they are more than happy to retake the brand, once Cannondale "gets with the program" ie look after their suppliers and the users of their products - in much the same way that say Giant or many of the other major brands do.

Having said all of that - i have 4 Cannondales - 3 of them are carbon. To say that i have put my bikes through the ringer is an understatement. Ive done the full drop off at the 19th hole on a carbon Raven with 100mm of front suspension. Actually what i mean is - i had the most spectacular crash attempting this... Broke 4 bones etc etc, Bike was bloody fine.

Crack and Fail.... not my bikes, just me.

I love my 'dales. Would i buy another - i just did.

that fits. Noticed a couple of weekends ago with Hans that the Oz distributor is no longer listed on the Cannondale US website.

I got mine from Frasers at Tarren Point.

There used to always be a heap of Cannondale mountain bikes at CBD on Kent Street, but i had noticed lately that their floor share is diminishing (still plenty of Cannondale road bikes upstairs). Anyone else noticed that? I have always found Cannondale frames to be fairly indestructible (i have never destroyed one).
