Adventure racing

Hi guys,
All of you are probably very good at MTB but maybe you wanna do more. Is there anyone interested by adventure racing ?
By definition “Adventure racing is a combination of two or more endurance disciplines, including orienteering (if an orienteering map is used) and/or navigation (when non-orienteering maps are used), cross-country running, mountain biking, paddling and climbing and related rope skills”. It is also a great team sport and particularly addictive for those who are looking to be beyond their maximum.
That said I did my first adventure race in Royal National Park a few days ago and it was awesome! Now I’d like to compete and be as good as possible on the next race.
In that kind of race part of the success is the team. I really want to find someone who fits with me and someone keen to share the same goals (go beyond your maximum, enjoy the beautiful outdoors around Australia and of course have fun). If you have this adventurous spirit and want to compete, drop me an email and we could train together.

One of the next races will be held in the Blue Mountains in August, so we would have plenty of time to train before this event.

Cheers mate
Pierre

A couple of my old mates from NZ run this event biz out of Coromandel NZ. I lived there for 20 years and loved it.

If you want some serious adventure it does not get better than this. The Coro peninsula has mountains, forests, rivers, harbours and roads to die for.
I am sure that the organisers ( Andy and Keith) will help you out with accomodation and equipment or a team if you ask them.

With the Dollar so strong ATM it would be a bargain.

I started Adventure Races - & fell in love with Mountain Biking. The 'TEVA Adventure Series' has been the best fun/organised/orienteering I've seen yet. Very professional & loads of fun! The Kathmandu ones were still great fun, but the orienteering was as easy as reading a street map. A friend of mine entered a 'Mountain Designs' event & was sorely disappointed as the organisation & planning was poor.

Can't speak about Paddy Pallin series, but I've heard good things. If you are keen to try a 'solo' event, Mountain Designs offer a short course, & I think BlackHeart Events do too. Enjoy! I certainly do. Keep looking for partners, you'll find it's a large community.

I have entered with a girlfriend ( 2 Pink Ladies) . We will be wearing Pink shirts and hopefully not lost again.

Thanks for the tips. I agree that Kathmandu series orienteering part was easy and because I knew the RNP I didn't really need the map. But the organisation was excellent ! I am pretty keen to give a go on each different races but I have some troubles to find a partner. All of my friends think this is hardcore (and it's not !). For the partner I don't care about the sex, neither the age and remember this is for fun !
Anyone interested is more that welcome to contact me Smiling :-)

Cheers
Pierre
