Is anyone heading down for the AM / Super D race this weekend?

I will be driving myself down but wanted to see if there was a way to join forces for shuttling back to the top.

Anybody?

Bueller?

(Sudden flood of WHAT SUPER D RACE IS THIS questions)

Is that like a Megavalanche type thing?

we don't have the altitude to do anything mega here - especially in the 'bra.

Yeah I was thinking same.

Sounds like an interesting concept for those of us who struggle uphill. Bit like the Brakeburner at Buller (I think) recently?

Thats the one.

So, anyone going and able to help with shuttling or does anyone want to try to arrange something?

I like the idea of this event, everyone likes to ride down...hill ,but not everybody want's to do downhill . Eye-wink

And the format is a great idea too, rock up and have a go when you like within the time window.

Times from last year were from 9:23 for Elite Men, out to about 12mins.

So it looks like a decent Run.

Good for the forearms!

Unfortunately cannot find any pics/footage from last year's event.

Entry is $10 and you get as many slams as you like.

So, who else is in??!!

Damn Matt, that sounds like awesome fun, but I can't get down there this weekend. SuperD has always sounded like a great idea for those, like me, that love the idea of doing 'almost' downhill riding, but without those potentially killer gap jumps and kickers everywhere. I will keep an eye peeled for more at a later date. Smiling Good luck mate!

Obviously a bit more spoiled for locations here though.

There isn't any standard format yet but most approach it kinda like a rally i.e. you get a certain amount of time to ride the sections between the timed DH stages. If you don't make it, you're out. If you do, they time your DH sections and the rider with the lowest cumulative time wins.

Good times and a lot more time in the saddle than your standard DH race.

Im heading down with a mate on Sunday.

Should be there 830ish.

Not sure what we are doing shuttle wise yet.

Hopefully get more than 2-3 runs in, as its 3.5 hours in the car each way :S

Mark, thanks again to you and Mark for the shuttling. Much appreciated.

I'll be making an effort to get to the next one (Kowen Forest) so let me know if you're planning on heading down.
To those thinking about it, don't think, do!!

Welcome Matt, was a fun day.

Helmet Cam footage

Edit is of 3rd and 4th runs, there is some missing bits where I got overtaken by 12 yr olds on hardtails and where I fall into the bushes..... Too embarrassing for the internet, ha.

I think next one is in Sept and I will be in Whistler, but I think Mark (the other one) and some others will head down for it.
