Hope every one caught the highlights on sbs 2 last night.

Great coverage across all disciplines, though they didn't show Troys winning run in the U19s.

Commentator seemed a little lost for what was actually happening or who the riders were at times but otherwise a great show.

The XC course looked tough, none of this flat, groomed, every corner bermed crap. Massive climbs and insanely technical descents.

The 4x track looked like a mountain bike track not just a bmx track on a hill, therefore the races weren't decided by who had the best gate start.

The DH course, well when the best riders in the world say it's the steepest scariest track they've ridden you know it's a real test appropriate for the world champs.

Any way send them an email and let them know we appreciated seeing out sport on the Telly [email protected]

He had very little knowledge( apart from what was on his notes) of any of the riders and even pronounced some of their names wrong!
Surely it cant be that hard to find someone to present who had, at least a vaugue interest in the sport?

He was on top of the XC stuff. and I suppose if you have a limited budget you can't have a specialist commentator for each discipline. I'm just glad they ran it and hopefully they get enough good feed back to do it more, though with the UCI's deal with rocky roads it uncertain if any one will have coverage next year

And shown at a decent timeslot too. Nice one SBS Smiling

All the tracks looked very tough. Does anyone know what happen to Graves? Why did he come off after he cleared the first pile up?

And what about that massive gap jump on the XC track! Would've loved to see more from that angle.

In all great coverage, should've got the Freecaster boys for the commentary.

It was good for SBS,but the commentator had no idea with the downhill!

Like when danny whipped,he says",wow what a great recovery, then in the replay he realizes his mistake.

Its just not the same as watching it on freecaster, the commentary is slack at times but always entertaining and relevant.

They did show troy right at the end,i think cycling central added it on in the recap.

Overall great to have it on SBS but they need a passionate mtbr for commentary

To be honest when I watched the freecaster live stream I thought danny was going to eat shit on that whip too. Stream went a bit dodgy and I didn't know if he landed it or not for a second or two...

agree good job SBS for putting on in a timeslot that most of us can watch - although my Mrs did comment "what the hell are we watching"

XC was actually great to watch, usually a little boring, but with 20% climbs and really techy downhill it was great to watch - and how about the 3m gap jump thrown in for good measure. Riders made it look easy. women's was also great viewing, not much separating the girls from the boys.

I can send you an .avi if you want?

Great to see any downhill on telly
But the excitement generated by Warner and co
Love it or hate it, at least evokes some sort of reaction
The commentator on SBS was as boring as batshit

Andy Bloot's picture

I wonder what happened to Graves as well
He cleared the first pile up, and then immediately lost grip and went sideways
But rather than get on his bike quickly
Kind of threw his arms up like 'arrrrgh'

I thought he must have flatted
But when he was on his bike later it didn't really look like it

philberesford's picture

It was only his 3rd flat of the entire season. Wrong time, wrong place, wrong race. He's pretty gutted obviously. He posted about on his Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jared-Graves/13182...

Can keep up with all the goss now
Thanks

Such a bummer for him
And that car doesn't look to bike friendly

Should of had Kingy commentating!

Flynny's picture

I'd pay to listen to Kingy and Warner commentate Shocked)

Andy Bloot's picture

Now that would be a combo!

Kingy's call at Newtons Nation was legendary and made Warner look like an amateur.

There's Paul at the top of the hill with the mic. "He off the start, over the table top with a little whip and now it gets steep and he's picking up speed, holds that line well. Into the big red berm. It's slippery but he takes the high line. He lines up the gravity gap.... Wow look at the speed as the force compresses his suspension into the berm. Now the long straight and he's pedalling like a demon. It get steep again and now the off camber, It's loose but he hold his line brilliantly. How do they do it? Over the last gap and now down toward the big table top.... Massive whip as he sprints towards the line...."

Kavarik is looking around as he waits for his run "Flynny, where's the screen Kingy his making his call from?"
"In his head Chris, it's all in his head."

He called the whole race only being able to see the first 100 meters. He'd done a heap of practice runs to get the timing and then just made it up as the rider went out of view.

Legendary

ChopStiR's picture

LMAO, thats Kingy no doubt!

Imagine he could actually see the entire race!
