Mont 24

Just wondering if anyone has a spot in a team leaning more to the fun side than the competitive side. If there is enough interest maybe creating a team. A team of 4 would be Ok but 6 would be great.

Cheers
Evan

I'd be interested to join a team. Got lights but have never done a 24, so the fun part sounds appealing.

The Mont Rego opens this Thursday. May sell out quickly so get your team info ready for the rego.

"Entries for the 2012 Mont 24 Hour Race open this Thursday (10th November), so it might be a good idea to put the bike down, wash your face and be near a computer somewhere around lunchtime... fingers poised.

Entries in the Mont sold out in just 4 days last year… so delegating responsibility for entering your team to your least organised member might well end in tears (it did for some). All we can suggest is get organised and get your entry in promptly. Below is a rundown on how to enter. Have a read through and make sure you have everything you need from your team mates..

HOW TO ENTER

CHOOSE RACE CATEGORY
You can select from Teams of 4 and 6 in the various age and sex categories. We also offer Single Speed class as a category in teams of 4. Details are HERE.

ENTER YOUR TEAM NAME

NOTE: Team names may be up to 30 characters. This is your chance to be creative and get your team's character down. Remember, there are some very cool prizes for Best Dressed at the Mont.

ENTER YOUR TEAM MEMBER DETAILS

Whoever registers the team will by default be the Team Captain. The Team Captain can enter the personal information for each team member. The email address you enter for the Team Captain will be where all race correspondence is sent to (including the Payment receipt). Below are the details you will need for EACH rider in your team.

NOTE: If you do not have your team structure worked out, you can enter dummy details (i.e. all riders have same contact details as you, but called Rider 2, 3 etc). This is not ideal, but it will enable you to progress through to payment of your entry. You can update your team entry later.

PAYMENT

Once you have filled out all the details of your team members you can proceed to payment. Payment of your entry is your guarantee your team is entered and racing in the Mont. Payment is made at completion of your entry.

I'm tentative for a team right now. If this does not go ahead I'm very keen to join in. It would be my first 24hr race and would be keen for a fun approach team.

marto71's picture

after doing the insomnia 24 hr in qld for 2 years in a row, I can highly recommend getting involved as a team, especially for fun, its a great way to experience these types of events, and go and enjoy your self, we often just put up a thread in a forum and offered places, then went for a ride together, so you can put names to faces, and remember enjoy the experience as there is a lot more to these events then just winning

Hi
Been meaning to do the Mont for a while. Got lights. So if you are keen on getting a social team togather.
I would be interested. Done Dirt works 50km a couple of times , highland fling, back yamma, meradia 12 hour.
But never a 24 hour.

I'd be keen to join a team of 4 or 6. I've passed on previous opportunities for 24 races due to no experience with night riding. But after my first night ride a few weeks ago around Manly Dam I'm sold, it was awesome!

Volker's picture

Ok, going through the above comments looks like we already got a team of 4:
- Evan
- Floydo
- jasonf
- Volker
and a possible maybe:
- Canuck76

If I understand the information of the registration process correctly, costs collected during the registration process are
$145 Entry Fee
+ $10 Camping Fee
+ $20 Day License MTBA (reclaimable if you are an MTBA member)
= $175 Total per person

It sounds like we could start off with registrating a team of four and extend it to a team of six until the 12th of February.

What I don't fully understood was whether the person doing the registration needs to be paying for the whole team. As things usually get touchy as soon as money is involved, we would have to figure this out.

Thoughts?

Cheers,
Volker

When can I give you the money, or how do I pay online?
Just let me know happy to direct debit or what ever.

Yes, the person registering needs to pay for all team members and then has the fun of chasing or breaking their legs for the cashola

Volker's picture

Ok, anybody that wants to be part of the team, please send me your detailed information as required for the registration (details below). Please send through to my public email, I have just updated my profile. Feel free to call if you have further questions or suggestions. I will respond back with my bank details and will ask you to make the payment required.

I would also highly appreciate a suggestion for our TEAM NAME! I am a German engineer and pathologically unoriginal when comes to stuff like that.

Happy to join a six man straight shooting team for the Mont!
Let me know if your lean towards six or four?
Cool
More than happy to do night laps!

Haven't done a twentyfour for a few years so its time to have a crack at the Mont24!

Ok, we got four confirms (Evan, Robert, Jason, myself), one keen but not confirmed (Shano), one maybe. Smells like we'll get a Six Pack.

As we all appear to be coming from a quite sharply defined age group, I was thinking that the below may be an intersting read Smiling:

jasonf's picture

The age group in the article is probably also a factor of cost...it isn't a cheap hobby maintaining bikes and entering events!

I wish I hadn't been playing golf in my twenties and riding instead - better late than never I suppose.

Thanks for putting this together, look forward to meeting the team!

Floydo's picture

Does this mean I will have to come out of the closet and wear my lycra on the outside, instead of under my baggies, scary thought.
Cheers for putting the team together Volker.

We're on, guys!

Please check your details in the emails I sent you. If you have not yet made your payments, please do so now.

We also now officially have one vacant slot for anybody who want's to join team Just for Fun!

Volker

Is in, pretty impresive they'd sold 65% precent of entries by the time I got to it last night.

Mont24Team's picture

Hi all
The entry system we are using this year makes it quite easy to enter as a team of 4, upgrade to team of 6, cross grade to mixed/male/female from whatever category you were and then back again. It will even allow you to boldly step up to the plate and roll as single speed... and then quietly back out again.
You are right, the team captain pays for the team, then spends the ample time between now and race day pinning them down for the $
Extra kudos, points (and prizes) for those who like to dress up and stay in theme for the weekend.
As to team names... There's loads. The Banana Splits could be fun (to see riding especially), but those floppy ears might see you hanging from a branch if you ride fast.
See you at the start line.
Ride the Kow.

Registerised! Can't wait.

First race and all that, got some work to do between now and then methinks...lol.

philberesford's picture

Jumps straight into a 24hr

BOOM!

pancakes's picture

Heh, 24 divided by 6 is a whole world of pain less than 24 divided by 1. Eye-wink

Ha ha, you can take the 4am shift then Smiling
