Please Read: Get to Forestville Park - NIMBY's in action

There is a car boot sale at Forestville Park today (Bottom of Currie Road, Forestville).

A local NIMBY has hijacked the event and is spreading mis-information about the proposed Garigal National Park trails and asking residents to sign a partition against it (based on this mis-information). She was saying things like the trails will be going over aboriginal features, that the trails will be rolling a creek line and causing erosion, etc etc. A NIMBY through and through though as she was pushing the point that the other areas of Garigal National Park would be OK.

I stood with her for about 1/2 hour to discuss the various points of view... an also to give any passers by a balanced perspective. I also suggested that the groups work together so that we can get trails that are sustainable and take into account issues such as local knowledge of aboriginal landmarks as well as issues such as carying weeds into National Park.

If you get a chance Please head down to Forestville Park and spend some time with this lady so that residents don't get a one sided position.

Don't suppose you got a chance to get any printed media with said allegations? How about taking a photo of the wording top of the petition?

As the Garigal tracks are being proposed by NPWS any mis-information about this would surely be libellous against this organisation and they should take the appropriate action.

If anyone gets a chance to get down please have a read of the survey before having a chat.

Printed material on the boards was all official though. NPWS trail info and printed articles from the Manly Dam. I get the feeling that nothing will be printed other than what's official and that all the comments are well crafted to be grey enough to not be libellous but still plat a seed of doubt in the mind of residents.
