Any good?

Any alternatives in same price range here in Oz?

you will need to use a freight forwarding company as they do not ship internationally.....Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: Not directly, sorry. There are far too many customs restrictions to be able to accommodate this. Our website DOES NOT ACCEPT international credit cards. Canadians see below. All other international customers, if you make arrangements with a freight forwarding company or with family or friends in the U.S. we can sell you a bike but payment MUST BE MADE with a wire transfer or with a U.S. Money order. Please email [email protected] for details

Looks dodgy to me.

Absolutely not dodgy, just the way they do business that protects them from O/S fraud. Can't blame them really, at those prices there won't be much margin to cover lost / fraud.

They have been around for years selling with this business model so I think your purchase is a safe one, just very inconvenient for those not in the States.

As for your questions, search MTBR for reviews on that bike, there will be plenty, they will be mixed because there are lots of Motobecane haters out there.

Similar bang for buck, you'll be very hard pressed to find anything anywhere that competes, almost no chance here. Cell bikes had a closeout on a similar bike but it was more $, lesser spec and has sold out.

Also remember that is an aluminium hardtail. It will be a very harsh ride, ie, you're mate will feel every pebble. If you want hard tail then I would suggest looking at carbon or steel which will be considerably more compliant. I think the best you'll do for carbon is this http://shop.titusti.com/product-p/ccoowhipx9.htm $200 more and a pound heavier but they will ship to your door.

There's a few choices here http://www.pricepoint.com/thumb.htm?dept_id=277&... that might also be good alternatives.

Good luck.

I don't like your chances of getting your money back if things go wrong. At least with Paypal or International credit cards they'll give you your money back if your order disappears in transit.

clearly if it disappeared in transit or was damaged in transit then that would be your responsibility because you have organised that transport. That puts the onus of responsibility on you, not them. That makes it a risky option for o/s buyers, it doesn't make them dodgy. There is a difference

Great alternatives there - thanks. Interestingly, with GST and transport added, the prices are starting to get up there.

As a result, interest and competitive value has swung back to Oz LBShops. There's hope for our retail sector yet.
