I'm in Mudgee this weekend visiting friends. They mentioned that they'd read in the paper that the council had approved some mountain bike trails so I chucked my bike in the ute hoping to get a ride or two in. I'm glad I did as the trails here are great. There are trails everywhere in the area and I definitely didn't ride them all. The ground is a mixture of loose shail and hard pack which makes it interesting especially some of the climbs, and there is a lot of climbing! You're more than rewarded for the climbs by some awesome downhill sections. If you're in the area, it's well worth putting a couple of hours aside to ride.
If there is a Mudgee local on here, it would be great to add the trails to the 'rides' section on here. I have a gps trace of one of the rides I did but I lost my way a couple of times so it's not really any good to follow.

not like here on the coast.
It is. Mudgee had some rain over Saturday night but when I went out on Sunday it was a bit tacky but perfectly fine to ride. The ground seems to cope well with the rain. Wish I'd have stayed there another night, the weather is grim in Sydney.
I rode moto's there 38 years ago with my cousin who lived in Mudgee ,is a great spot, perfect for MTB trails!
It is The Common and a reserve that joins it.
When the signage is installed, they'll be a great set of trails.
Thanks for posting this up. I go to mudgee a bit (my wife's family lives up there) and have heard rumours of trails but hadn't yet discovered where they are. I think I will have to take the bike up next time I am up there
Ahh the secret is out, yes it is a hidden gem.
Pete, I cant make this sat but next time i'll be glad to have a spin with a
visitor. when you get to the dam go straight up the hill
(some nice track hidden up in there)
Hi im a mudgee local. I helped build quite a few of the things you've photo graphed. I'd be happy to show a few people around. I leave nearby so its easy. There are quite a lot of tracks.
I was there again this weekend but only had time to ride Saturday.
I'll send you a PM next time I'm in town. Probably in a couple of months time.
Ok will have to be weekend ride ... Im in year 12 ...
