hey guys I'm just after some help, the lack of knowledge has finally hit me.

I've kinked a chain on my bike, and have started looking for a new chain,
I'm running a 3x10 system
current chain has 112 links, when buying a new chain I'm only offered 116 or 110, is it advised that i break the chain down or what, i don't know its completely different from the mx

thanks guys

Get the 116 links and take out as many as you need using a chain tool. You'll probably find that your chain is too long at the moment. Put your chain on the two largest cogs and it should be tight (not that you should run big to big), if not, remove a few links until it is. This will reduce chain slap. If you're not aleeady running one, put a quick link in your new chain for easy remival and cleaning.

What Pete said.

The only additional detail I'd add is that it is wise to take the air out of yoru shock and do the big-to-big check with the suspension at the point in the travel where the chain needs to be at its longest.

Again, not that you would ever intentionally run big-big, but there have been times when I've done it unintentionally and have been alerted by the strange noises coming from the transmission
