Need some new gloves- just wondering what others like, don't like, good brands, etc.

Firstly, what is it with glove sizes these days???
In 'civilian' clothes I'm a small - medium, but gloves i need XXL. Am i a freak?

Anyway. I currently use Fox Dirtpaw MX gloves. I like something with extra finger protection. Branches whacking my fingers does not make me happy.

Go to your local motor cross shop and try a few on.

I got some new gloves just after xmas. Went to 3 bike shops and got little to no service in any of them (2 of them with good reputations too). In only 1 store I got a hello and can I help you, after saying I was after gloves, I was waved towards a backwall where there was maybe 4 different models and none in my size (cant blame them for that tho - I wear XXXL). And didnt see a pair under $45 in any store. I knew my size in fox gloves so went to CRC ordered gloves, new grips, and a couple tubes, delivered for $45.

I am a huge fan of the TLD air glove. I have been using them for 4-5 years now and use them for everything. I race DH in them and ride XC and AM aswell. They are light, strong and priced well.

You can usually find them on special for around $30

I just look on Chain reaction Cycles for anything that is fairly cheap,$20 or less when reduced.I have used Endura and liked them alot but also have a few pairs of Royal gloves which are cheaper but still good quality

Recently bought a new pair when up at Taree (Kiwarrak) for $49. Very well constructed. Not too warm to wear. Agree with sizing comment and LBS service levels above though.

+1 for the specialized gloves

I have been using them for years. Now they have that wire tap finger thing so you don't have to take you glove off if you need to use you touch screen phone

+1 for Specialized BG gel gloves, I have a pair and they are great. But also check Bontrager ones, my sister gave me a pair on my birthday and they are pretty good as well, actually I am using more now the Bontrager, they feel lighter and have a better "breathing"

I just bought the Specialized BG Gel and Spec winter (I think deflect?) gloves. I've always liked spec gloves. My only complaint with the Spec winter ones is the cuff doesn't have a velcro flap so they can be tight getting on and off otherwise all good. The new ones have "wire technology" meaning you are meant to be able to operate your smart phone without taking them off but I haven't tested them.

I agree with MrMez, Fox Dirtpaw MX gloves are it, very comfortable. I even use them as for indoor soccer goalie gloves, great added finger protection for smacking branches.

Between thumb and forefinger make sure it's a soft felt type material especially for these cold mornings

From Fox is good for me!

The Fox sidewinder gloves have been ridden well and are my favorite glove.
Bought in May 06. They have only just started to fail, when I pushed a pinkie through the top of the finger.
By no means am I finished with these yet!
There is no padding on the palms but they are very comfortable and grip is great,
The stiff rubbery material around the wrist works a treat when resting the hands.

Fox Digits are good

Another +1 for the Spec BG gloves - I have a pair I use all the time and I like the protection the padded palms give between the bars and my delicate hands!

The seam between the thumb/snot wipe section and the main glove body came undone on one of them after 12 months but a $5 repair job at the local clothing alteration place has solved the issue.

& NZO Defrosters are a good option for the cold weather

My only beef is they changed the fingertip design this year no more wrap-over fingertips Sad That was my favourite thing about the design, no seams invading under your fingernails! Sad

Some good Alpinestar ones on here cheap...Great to deal with bought from them a few weeks back.

I've just bought a pair if these and highly rate them. They're warm but still let your hands breathe and the gel pads have cleared up the pins and needles I got in my fingers after riding for over an hour. The only thing I would change on them is there is no towelling on the back of the thumbs for wiping a runny nose!
