Manly dam trail maintenance

I've got a few free hours next Tuesday to get out on the circuit and do a bit of maintenance to make up for my wet run I did a week or so ago.

Of course I won't do anything without approval from you trail fairies out there.

Feel free to tell me what needs done and where. I was going to try smooth out the tyre ruts, replace some of the lost dirt washed out by the rain and drain out some puddles??

We really appreciate your enthusiasm!

Unfortunately its not as simple as turning up and getting stuck in. Maintenance on the Dam trail needs to be supervised by a Council officer ... and we are fortunate to have a great relationship with the head ranger Chris but his time is limited and we need to organise with him well in advance. The work also needs to be done properly - there is an art to it that requires knowledge that is passed on during the official trail days as it often isnt obvious to the untrained.

When we have a date for the next maintenance day I'll make sure you get an invite.

In the meantime there may be other opportunities if you're interested that are nearby. Unfortunately I'm busy midweek but will have some time Saturdays if you're keen.

hi Jonathan,
we've held a number of volunteer days through out this year, we try to schedule one day a month, usually a Sat morning or afternoon (maybe we can do a Sunday for a change of pace!) however have had a run of cancellations more recently due to wet weather. We'll crank things up again in Feb and the plan is to have a morning session followed by a bbq by the dam. keep an eye on the events calendar!
