Well after a paticulary fun single track training ride last Friday night I got home and had decided to order the bike I'd been considering for the last couple of months, I started strong saying I have 4 bikes that's really enough, but as Gaz will agree, it can be hard to resist with the bike just slowly wearing you down, nagging to be brought, Anyhow it was starting to get like my unhealthy attraction for Dido (Definitely no L) so ordered it right then. Hope I like a 29er hardtail. Keen to here thoughts on 29ers.

but publicly admitting you feel you need an extra 3" front and rear I struggle with.

All jokes aside, can you make sure you fit candies to it so I can take it for a spin and compare it to the Viper next time I see you on a trail.

On a more serious note, make sure you print a copy of your receipt in Aussie dollars. I know its not likely to drop 7 cents before you get it but if it does you'll get stung by customs. Mine was closer to the magical $1000 mark and the dollar did drop before I got it, customs wanted to slug me and the only thing that safed me was the printed receipt.

get slugged with the tax as their charging $300 delivery, and I think that is also counted in the total. Sad
An extra 3" wouldn't hurt, well not me at least.

I got free delivery, it was frame only, but I have a vague recollection that when I was arguing the point with the customs girl she asked how much delivery was. The impression I had was that it didn't count, but don't hold me to that.

.. bike, You did get it, well done.
as Stuart said, I need to have a go,too.... one day!
All the gear you got for me is on my Hardtail, all perfect!! but still waiting for the last few items from US.
Hope to get it soon, when is your ETA for the 29er?

It gets here early next week which means I could take it down and do a few laps on it for the 24 hour, that would mean I'd be taking 3 bikes as I like to alternate bikes but I don't think too many laps on a hardtail would help me last the distance.

about taking it for a spin, it will be interesting to see how it rolls over things with the bigger wheels we may need to form a queue though.

It's a 29er, I've just taken it out of the box and it's beautiful, Father and bike doing well, now I'm just wetting the bikes head while I assemble it.

Got any pics?

I'd imagine this thing will roll like a demon down all those silly hills out your way, silly speeds possible... be gentle on it's inaugural run! Eye-wink

Was over much quicker than expected, I wasn't expecting the delivery for a few more days, I had a small ride on SuperGavs (new NoB) 29er at the WSMTB club round yesterday and was impressed as I went straight to some small holes and the wheels certainly did better than a 26' could.

Gav, I really appreciated the ride yesterday, it impressed me. I'll get some pics soon but I can feel some single track coming on tonight, with lights but I can't do much as it's taper time. Look forward to catching up next time.

Hey Gav could probably do with your bigger wheels, after you and Damien sped off down the hill towards the creek at the dam on the Sat morning, my puny 26rs baulked at hitting the mud hole near the bottom at speed. Resulting in my local GP getting some practice at sowing and waking up the next morning feeling like I had been taken to with a sledge hammer.

About your spill Gary, but we probably need some pics from you too for the gore files, hope it heals fast.
John.

at least you will end up with a decent scar out of it and chicks love scars....
Hope it heals quickly and that you are back on the bike soon. Oh yeah photos are always good

... is the "hole" in elbow?
that skid mark in the mud was about 4m+ long, a good fall I recon!
no wonder it feels like someone has hit you with a hammer....
