Hello everyone. I want to work on my jumping technique so i can start hitting bigger stuff but not sure where to go practice. I need to work my way up. Does anyone no of a good place to do this? Could a nice pump track suffice?

Cheers,

Jono.

Had a go there myself on the weekend but it's a bit hard on a mid-travel 29er with clips-ins.

Try Morgans road Belrose, jumps start from 3ft high and plenty to chose from

Morgan road scares me!!! Those things are huge and there isint exactly much room for error. There are a lot of trees lining the trail Smiling maybe I'll go check it out again thou.

What about the Grove dirt jumps in Seaforth - haven't been there but there is a beginners line I think.

There is a soccer field there with a grass slope and a rock ledge beside it. Different height drops and a nice soft landing when you get it wrong. There are photo's on here somewhere from when Pikey led a learn to jump day there years ago.

Ive seen those photos circulating. Drops aren't the issue thou, just the big double rollers and table tops. I want to work my way up to those guys.

Maybe ill check out the grove, looks pretty cool there! Cheers.

The jumps at the playing field of Hews are more drop offs rather than jumps. I agree they are good for technique and take some balls to hit the tallest of them (for me anyway).

I am in the same boat and went down to Oxy the other day. The jumps down there aren't all big, the left hand track has some small ones at the top that are great to learn on. Nice and straight. The more you go down you pick and choose.

I'm a terrible jumper, but by the end of an hours session I was hitting them full speed, defo going back to keep at it. It's mostly all in the mind once you have the technique.

Just don't try the monster jump at the bottom, I reckon that must be over 10 meters!

So if u start on morgan rd by the carpark at the top of the firetrail, you go left down that little bit of single track which is parallel with the road? And you say there are smaller jumps there? Ive been down parallel morgan road and those ones are huge. Need something reasonably smaller to start on.

You haven't been on the forum for a while and have stopped racing , same with carlgroover , I have been up Newcastle way for over a year now and close to great trails . I used to go under the name Smiley but I only love Scott bikes now .
