Name Niki Gudex

Born 19th July 1978

Resides Sydney, Australia - when not travelling the world.

Occupation Mountain Biker / Graphic Designer / Model / Artist

Niki has fast become one of Australia’s most highly regarded female competitors in mountain biking and is one of a few athletes who are competitive in both Downhill (DH) and Cross Country (XC) disciplines.

After only a few years in the sport, Niki is ranked number one and two in the National Series for XC and DH respectively. She has finished on the Downhill podium at every National Championship for the past three years and has achieved either a first or second ranking in every National Series.

Following Niki’s success in Downhill she has now set her sights on the Olympic discipline of Cross Country mountain biking and she is currently in preparation for a big year ahead, including training and competition at the world’s highest level.

Niki’s sporting prowess and stunning looks have attracted cover shots, feature stories and interviews across all mediums, such as front covers on Chick, Black+White and FHM magazine, and feature stories in magazines as diverse as Inside Sport, Rolling Stone, Maxim, Outside and even fashion bible Vogue magazine. Niki’s profile increased even further when she was voted as “Australia’s Sexiest Sportswoman” by the readers of Inside Sport in 2002.

In 2002 Niki was also crowned Wollongong University’s “Sportsperson Of The Year” and she received a University “Blue” Award (which is an international university acknowledgement for sporting achievement) and graduated on completion of a Bachelor of Creative Arts degree majoring in Graphic Design and New Media.

With her university studies behind her, Niki is now focused on achieving all that she can within mountain biking. This year Niki will compete locally and internationally including the NORBA, World Cup Series and World Championships.

You'd have to keep up with her first. She is bloody quick in both DH and XC

Nice picture

Submitted by Little-Ditty on Thu, 03/07/2008 - 13:41.

Is that a picture of herself on her own bike? Whatever. Nice looking, but hard to take her seriously as a person when she flaunts herself around like a whore. Maybe she should just become an erotic dancer or something.

Holy communion Batman!

S'a bit early to be getting revved up for Catholic Youth day innit?

I would wh*re myself raw if it meant I could ride bikes every day Eye-wink

That's a bit harsh

Submitted by Bruce on Thu, 03/07/2008 - 14:15.

She isn't doing anything different to most other models & if it pays the way for her cycling career good on her.

The article was only about the bike... not Niki...

Submitted by Hans on Thu, 03/07/2008 - 14:22.

What are you guys talking about....? I thought the whole article was about the white bike in the first pic (...not Niki).

Did you see the interesting geometry and setup of the rear suspension?

Single pivot or multi-link?

What make/model is that?

Harsh ditty

Submitted by flynny on Thu, 03/07/2008 - 14:30.

She is a bloody good rider and her result sheet speaks volumes but in a sport where there is not much money to be made is it that bad she promotes herself as a model too?

Not to mention the extra coverage she gets for her sponsors.

she got into MTB after breaking her back snow boarding and has been one of our best female DHers and XCers.

And yes that is her and her own bike (or one of them)

Oh and she is well fit mon.

And a bit Hypocritical...

Submitted by Matt on Thu, 03/07/2008 - 15:00.

We've all seen you flaunting it in your skimpy singlets, tongue lolling out as you pose for the ladies Eye-wink.

That's a pretty harsh comment mate. I know Nikki and I have to say she is a very nice girl and a very down to earth person.

What's this whore garbage? A few bikini shots? Oh my!!

By the way the last time I saw her was three weeks ago riding the Dam, maybe you could race her around for a lap and then after she flogs you you could then apologise to her?

know what was on the end of your chain. Not quite the "light saber" I imagined for a Jedi.

Besides I can't qualify as a latte sipper as I ride the wrong bike

What make / model is her bike?

Submitted by Hans on Thu, 03/07/2008 - 16:20.

OK guys ...is this getting off topic ?- The key question remains ...

What make / model is her bike? Is that seat post adjustable?

Hey, steady on Ditty. Take a look at a few shots of the lass DH'ing. Not just a pretty face (actually, you can't see her face in a few of these - hidden by goggles and helmet).

Just because you don't like tight, skimpy riding gear (or dooooo you?!) don't talk the fairer sex out of wearing there's or whatever else they look good in.

Geeze, no appreciation for the arts some of you heathens! Sticking out tongue

People I think he gets the message now,

Submitted by Stuart M on Thu, 03/07/2008 - 17:09.

no need to keep going.

Its more of a sad statement about our society that our male riders don't have to pose for pics in their sluggo's and body armour to make ends meet. Maybe they do but are worried about scaring away more sponsors. I guess a perfect world would have equal sponsorship dollars regardless of what sex you are.

it is kind of sad that the only way that female athletes (not just mtb girls) have to resort to showing a little flesh to get the general public to look at them.

Hawt

Submitted by Noel on Fri, 04/07/2008 - 12:22.

As an Australian male I just want to balance up Ditty's comment with this:

I wholly support women (16+) flaunting their bodies (regardless of quality level) in the interest of attention. They were born/made pretty to gain attention and so they should. I also support women riding DH, FR, XC, Trials, Urban, in bikini's (preferably G strings). I fully support women having sponsors tattooed on their bodies in locations normally covered by bikini's if it increases the likelihood of bikinis popping off when they are doing extreme DH, so long as myself, or some decent cameras are there to pick up on the action.

The sooner the major bike companies "TAP" into the 'concealed tattoo' marketing opportunity the better for the sport, and more importantly.. the blokes (and lets not forget the lezo's)!

I'd tap that!

Smiling

and, it works both ways, 80% of the 40-60 ages ladies (driving past etc) will sneak in a bit of a look. It's funny how they look straight at the legs but never go for eye contact. Maybe if my legs were bigger they would look up.. maybe I'm just ugly.

I can sympathise with Niki

Submitted by Andy Bloot on Fri, 04/07/2008 - 12:51.

For over 40 years I've had to endure being treated as a sex object
I thought with my advancing years, women would begin to recognise me for my intelligence
But still they insist on addressing my crotch
I'm not just a nice piece of tail you know!

Andy that was a nurse that dressed your crotch

Submitted by Stuart M on Fri, 04/07/2008 - 13:08.

remember that accident.

As for a sex object, I understand your plight. Every time I mention sex, she objects

Submitted by Hans on Fri, 04/07/2008 - 13:37.

Advertising is important!

Just a reminder to us all that cycling has always been at the forefront of fashion and ideas.

The idea in this photo was to look very fashionable and awesome.

It totally worked. Did Nishiki go out of business about the time they ran this ad?

Enough said...

Submitted by Beany on Fri, 04/07/2008 - 13:52.

I have a question for the road riders (scummers I think you are referred as) like Bruce, Junkie and Liam.

1) The guy's bar seems to be droopy, it is tilted down towards the ground - is that an unusual angle?

2) Also why does it have so much padding wrapped around it - is that just to help you grip it.

Non-scummers can reply if they know the answers

Offence?

Submitted by Little-Ditty on Fri, 04/07/2008 - 19:16.

It takes a fair bit to cause me offence, Beany, but that did it. Eye-wink You can leave me off the scummers' list. Sticking out tongue

Submitted by GAZZA on Fri, 04/07/2008 - 19:34.

the fold in the page is there! as for her legs not having bruises, they'll look like ours probably(not white and hairy) i mean they'll be photoshopped big time to erase the usual mountainbikers scars, bruises etc

Submitted by Rob on Fri, 04/07/2008 - 20:03.

Oh dear Gazza... So you admit to having legs like a girl? Do you keep them all silky smooth to attract more men? Barf!

believe it or not,

Submitted by GAZZA on Fri, 04/07/2008 - 22:13.

but i used to have a long beautifull mullet too. and yes Rob, my legs ARE silky smooth but its for my own pleasure and not to attract men. if i cut the circulation off from the top of the leg for a few mins it goes numb, when i rub the smooth, hairless, freshly shaven skin i imagine its the leg of a certain female model/mtb rider! mmmmmmmmm! well you did ask rob Eye-wink
