Hi everyone my name is Dave and I'm the newest member of NobMob.

I haven't ridden a MTB since I was a kid but this year I decided to get back into it and so far I'm loving it.
I have spent the first half of this year riding a basic XC bike, a Merida sub 60-D. Since then I have been learning all about the parts of a bike and now I am currently riding a 2003 Giant AC-1 which I am slowly upgrading.
I love this bike because it will cop a hiding on downhill sections & still be able to climb hills all day long. So far I have only ridden Terry Hills long track, Cascades & joining tracks & I have tried the Morgan road downhill section.

Upgrades so far have been installed & tuned by myself:

Rock shox Domain 318S 180mm travel
XT shadow rear derailleur
Race Face lock on Grips
22 & 32 tooth Token chain rings
Dura-ace/XTR chain
Hayes Stroker Trail brakes with 8" rotors (not yet installed)
2008 model XT M770 cassette (not yet installed)
FSA headset bearings & races.

With all these upgrades going on I made a momentary lapse of judgement which brings me to my first question.
I recently bought a new rear shock off ebay which does not appear to fit my frame.
The shock in question is a X-Fusion Vector Pro 8.75" x 2.75". I obviously stuffed the measurement because the shock on the bike is a 7.5" x 2".
Is there anyway I can fit this by compressing it or is that not a good idea?

I hope to see some of you on the trails!

Dave, Dave, Dave. Drinking beer and shopping online? It'll never ever fit. Perhaps try an air shock for that size, but if you really love that coil feel then by all means buy a coil shock.
I'm an online shop a holic yet even I'd recommend going to a bike shop for a major outlay like a shock or forks. These are items that tend to last a long time and you may even move that shock into a new frame. That size is pretty standard.
As the xfusion you have don't fret. Flog it on ebay. That size is common for true downhill and freeride bikes and someone somewhere is bound to want it.
