went to the Bavarian Bier cafe in Parramatta last week and they served it at the same height and i said the same thing

Ahhh... if you let the head settle, if it's a 'proper' head then you'll see that there's rather a lot of liquid in it.
It's the European way to have a massive head on your beer and once you get used to it that's OK. Well - it was OK when I was there as beer was cheap as chips, not sure about here and now mind!
