Bike Workstand
I'm sick of propping my bikes up on chairs and boxes, i need a workstand
Anybody got any recommendations for a good bicycle workstand.
I'm pretty keen on a DIY if it turns out more financially viable.
Any comments appreciated

Torpedo 7 usually has some good ones, but they seem to be out of stock of the one I bought, a Union unit which I got on weekly special for $130-odd, normally $190-odd. It's a lot better than the one they currently have on their site. Interestingly, my son spotted them using the exact same model in the workshop at DY Bike Hub on the weekend.
Mine gets a lot of use - such as tonight when I replaced my rear shifter cable, and last weekend when i set up my youngster's new acquired Otero.

There's only 1 on t7 ATM (WS304) and I don't recommend it. The quick releases on the tubes are not strong enough so the tubes twist and your bike won't stay level.
I got it on special for $80 so I live with it but I'd recommend looking at some in the LBS first.
I got the BT999 on T7 when it was on special and it's great, packs really small and is really easy to set up and use. Holds my bike level without problems.

You can get the same work stand made by PRO (SHIMANO) at you LBS for about $199. If you can't find one let me know.
BT999 - yes, that's the one.
Take a standard A frame ladder.
Shove a sturdy plank through the rungs so that it sits practically level, with the end nearest to you sitting on top of a rung, and the end furthest under a rung.
Place towel / cloth / no longer used wedding dress on the end nearest to you for padding.
Hang bike over towel / cloth / no longer used marshmallow outfit. Add weight to base of ladder to stabilise if necessary.
Save money for tyres / beer / crap that if you're honest, you don't REALLY need.

found it easy to use, sturdy and packs down for easy transport
Made from alloy and industrial plastics, does the job well
have since decided to buy one and found it here
