Bless their cotton socks...

Removing one problem and replacing it with another, that's the way! Sad

So I take it joggers have to slow down too?

Can't they have a separate bike lane?

We have to give credit where credit is due of course - bless the beaurecrats they are really trying to do something but.....

I'm sure most of us who commute like to average 20km/hr and for some among us it might be even closer 30km/hr and that won't work on that idea - for example try riding over the Darling Harbour pedestrian bridge in "peak hour" its just like moving singletrack hmmmm

Is there anyway where we can offer some nice suggestions?

Give the job of infrastructure design to someone who actually uses said infrastructure every day!

Apparently you can comment on this plan, details here:

A council spokesman said the shared pathways would not have a painted line to separate bikes from pedestrians.

"The general rule is to keep to the left. It will slow all the traffic down and everyone will mingle at the same speed. There won't be a line on the ground so it will take a bit of understanding from everyone involved," he said.

Good to see no expense is being spared... oh, hang on on a minute?

We all know it's silly... drop the council an email ([email protected]) and tell them so.

Interestingly someone from the City of Sydney council just called regarding my submission.

Seems there's a bit of mis-communication going on. They wanted to point out they didn't ever want to enforce a speed limit on this path and that's not going to happen. With regard to sharing with pedestrians and not marking lanes to keep them to one side or the other, I was just told that due to other walkways in the area (directly adjacent in the park, and over the road) it's highly unlikely that any pedestrian would even use the path in the first place.

Anyhow - looks like they are going to clear up these issues in the design to make the above more obvious.

Serious about providing a viable solution and not merely political/media frenzy...
Even better to hear that they actually process submissions!
Cool
