Removing forks and rear shock on stumpy
Hi all, Any tips on removing both front and rear shocks.

To remove forks or shocks you **DO NOT** need to remove air.
Their is nothing tricky to removing the fork or shock. DO NOT undo the brake line if you are running hydraulic brakes. If you have the BRAIN rear shock on your stumpy, DO NOT disconnect the line from the BRAIN canister to the shock coz it is under high pressure.
The rest is easy as with some mechanical knowledge. When you reassemble her, i suggest a light smear of grease on all pivots and dont do them up too tight. Best to use a torque wrench, but understandably not everyone has one in their garage

just so i understand it - there's nothing that needs to be done with the fork? I thought there was something about fitting a crown race on it for the headset?

It depends on what you want to do with the fork once its removed...
If you want to sell it or replace it with another fork, you need to reuse your crown race. If you wanna clean it up and put it back in OR chop the steerer short or similar, leave the crown race on. Its the little ring at the very bottom of the fork steerer that the lower headset bearing sits on.

Cheers all, just needed to remove so i can send them off for a service/rebuild.
It was pretty straight forward, i was expecting a bit more drama.
Things that helped.
Cable tie the bearings in head set, so they dont go everywhere.
