New Bike Advice

I’m starting to think about my next bike am a bit out of touch with what’s out there so am trying to shortcut my research by asking NoBMoBers for some tips.

I do cross country marathons and my only 2 criteria are it must be dual suspension and it must be able to fit 2 drink bottles. The latter being the hurdle. I also have a preference for 1x11 or 1x12 and sub 11kg.

So far I’m aware of only 3 bikes that fit the bill - Specialized Epic, Cannondale Scalpel & Canyon Lux.

Are there any others I should be looking at?

Cheers

Bike selection advice.

Hi there Im a 172cm 75Kg 53 yr old keen to get back on the bike but a bit bewildered by the changes that have come to the gear in the 7 or so years Ive been out. I ride mostly local northern beaches esp. Narrabeen Manly dam but a few trips when time allows to the Oakes/Andersons or Orimbah. Im up for a good second hand medium, dual Suspension (carbon if I can afford it). So.... opinions 1x10 1x11 1x12??? 29vs 27.5 etc etc.
Cheers Pete.

Where to buy new Fat Bikes in Perth?

Trying to find fat bike recommendations is frustrating!

I'm having trouble finding a good place to source a fat (4-5" tyre) bike in Perth. My trouble is that there are helpful online reviews for mainline fat bikes, but these never seem to cover
a) electric fat bikes, or
b) other brands or brands that are new to the market (which seems to be the only fatbikes - bar Diamant - that get an electric conversion)

Bike Buying...HELP

Hi I am new to mountain biking...borrowed a bike a few times and loved it so have decided to buy a bike of my own and get into it a bit, I am 39 and not getting any younger so looking for something to hit bush trails and rides, the trails up in the Perth hills and also cruising around with the misses too.. I have $1500 to spend and have been told a lot of different things..some say buy a hardtail now and get a decent bike for the money, some say hardtails are too hard work and to keep saving and buy a dual or buy a second hand dual now..

After owning this bike for 6 months i thought i would do a review....
Size is 19.5 and i am 173cm tall, this fits me perfectly although the seatube is a little taller than i would like ,and in the steep stuff the seat can bang me in the arse (????)forcing me foward a little more than i would want, i have remedied (no pun) this by using a 35mm rise bar instead of stock and cutting width to 760mm.
I run the bike in the steeper setting everywhere and the geometry etc feels balanced.overall im happy with sizing and glad i didnt go down to a 18.5.

Titanium 135x10 bolt thru skewer???

Does anyone know if there's a titanium 10mm bolt thru skewer available?

Building up a set of wheels for the carbon hardtail and want to beef up the rear over the standard QR.

I'll probably go with a 10mm bolt on but am wondering if there's a Ti option for these because, well...as the kids say...because titanium. Laughing out loud

Padding recommendation

Had a fairly major crash six weeks ago that resulted in a broken elbow. Still some time till full recovery but want to make sure I have some good elbow and knee pads for when I can ride again. I focus on endurance rides so really looking for something comfortable and not bulky. Any recommendations? Thanks
