Bike and accessory talk. How do I fix my brakes? What's a good fork for me? Check out this hot bling! etc.

Press Fit Bottom Brackets

How bad is that plastic thing Shimano call a bottom bracket?
Yes they are cheap, is that because they need to be replaced every 6-8 months?
Never had these problems with outboard bottom brackets, just clean and forget, last forever.
Time to replace again, just interested in what other people are using as alternates?
Anyone using a Wheels Manufacturing alloy bottom brackets? Looks good, alloy body and a choice of different type of endure bearings, depending on what you want to spend.
Cheers

New wheel size standard announced

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Looks like someone is looking to take the rough-ground rolling advantages of bigger wheels to the next level. A '39er' wheel standard has just been proposed.

This image illustrates the difference to a 'standard' 29er:

Steering uses a gears and apparently steering response speed can be tuned by adjusting the gear ratios:

I've broken the inner plate on a Shimano SLX M675 10 Spd Shadow + GS (Medium cage) derailleur. Anybody know where I could get a spare? I can't seem to find one anywhere this side of the equator!

Rain Jacket

I need to buy a new rain jacket. Have had a Ground Effect Stormtrooper for a good 13 years but it's now disheveled and in need of a grave. The new ones look expensive. I don't mind cost if I get good durability. Use primarily for wet commutes but also for mountain biking as well just needs to keep me dry as long as possible. Any thoughts.

Tubeless Burping

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

I've got my shiny new Nobby Nics and thought I may lose my tubeless cherry by converting soon. However, after much forum reading, burping seems to be a problem for heavier blokes like myself (circa 90kg inc gear) when running anything below 30PSI.

My concern is, by having higher pressures to avoid burping does this not negate the benefits of running tubeless by benefiting from lower pressures?

As usual your combined wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

PS. I'm running Mavic EX729 (26").

Commuter Bag

Hi NobMobers,

I'm planning to start commuting into the CBD from Forestville 1 day per week. I'll be doing in & out in a day and unlikely to be in the city again during the week. SO I'm looking for a bag that can hold all my stuff for a day; MacBook Pro, work clothes, work shoes, lunch, towel, etc.

I've had a look at the following bag and looks good:
http://www.deuter.com/DE/en/bike/cross-air-20-ex...

If any one has either a review of this bag or could offer advice on other bags that work well for you it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
