ok, 3 months ago we ness and i did our 1st lap of the dam in just over 1hr 20. we have since bought giant trance x2's (sweet rides) and started riding pretty regularly. i timed a lap last week and mangaged a lung busting leg burning 38min 45sec and was pretty chuffed, ness then did a 40min on the dot. both pretty happy, and riding improving every ride.
ness did 2 laps last thursday night, first lap was cruisy, having a chat, then she put the ipod on, started the stop watch on said ipod, locked it and took off. when she finished the lap, she unlocked the ipod and stopped the stop watch at a blistering 34min 15secs!!!!
neither of us are sure she could have been so quick, or if somehow the ipod unlocked itself and took a break for a few minutes. the other thing in her favour is she made a ph call before and after her ride, and it all adds up to a sub 35 min lap.
what are some of the faster women doing laps in, and where can i find another 4 and a half minutes???

Looking at the Manly Dam hot laps list, are there any girls on that? Maybe Blondie was right when she said only testosterone fuelled boys post their times Eye-wink

P.S. I'm guessing most women would prefer to be told they can't work technology than that they are freaks. YMMV... use either at your own risk Eye-wink

You always go faster when you are just having fun and not trying too hard.... Or so it seems Lots of people try and push too hard at the bottom of a hill or start of a lap and run out of puff. By starting a bit slower and maintaining a better average speed you end up quicker..

Still it could be a clock thing. I always get guys in bragging about how fast they do this or that track, invite them out of a race and suddenly they go to water... Maybe the clubs stop watch is running fast Smiling

If you look at the results from most XC races and enduro's the winning female is usually 30-35% slower than the winning male. There is a 26min lap posted by some freak most probably with alien dna and a few 28min laps. Doing the rough maths you would expect the fastest female to be about 35min so it is feasible. I would encourage her to race as she would win heaps if she has that speed.

I think a fit and technically sound female rider could easily do a low 30 minute lap. I did a 36 on a heavy bike and am in no way to be considered ultra fit. From what you describe, with no stops, and a light Trance steed, she could smash a lap like that. Sorry dude, but you have some work ahead of you.
