Sydney Demo/Rental Bikes

Hi,

I'm home for a visit from the UK for 4 weeks in January and would love to get some riding in but can't transport my Yeti over due to copious amounts of baby paraphenalia. Does anyone know if any of the decent bike shops in Sydney's south or north offer rentals or demos? Ideally I'd be looking to ride in the RNP, Menai (I'll be at the folks' in Cronulla) or northern beaches so shops in those areas would be best.

Thanks in advance.

Manly Bike Tours will rent you some entry level hardtails with cable discs.

Not a lot of options up this way (northern beaches) otherwise unless you are looking to buy.

Anaconda adventure stores rent bikes. Not sure of the quality of bikes they have for hire but might be worth an email.

With what's on offer it looks like I might as well drag one of the old family bangers out of the shed and ride that.

It's a strange one. A lot of shops selling high end bikes over here offer demo models for £20-£40 per day which they then take off the price of the bike if you end up buying it. I guess its all down to demand and with aussie prices so high shops probably can't take the hit associated with providing a demo fleet.

If only I could bring the Yeti with me! A few rides on dry, dusty trails would be a nice change to the mud and snow we're riding in here at the moment.

Cheers again for the replies.

City Bike depot, central Sydney often have a selection of bikes for testing out. You may even be able to take out a Yeti as I know they often have these available

I'm not sure how others feel about it, but if they're demonstrators and not hire bikes, I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable hiring it for the day if I wasn't considering a purchase.

Hire operations tend to have 5 or 10 of the same thing, in different sizes to suit the customer. Demonstrators tend to be one of a particular frame type in the one size (like the single Rize demonstrator that Manly Cycles had). Remember, these are just little mum-and-dad businesses not corporate giants like Harvey Norman.
