Cascades?

Can anybody tell me if the Cascades are ok to ride given the amount of rain over the weekend? Do the trails have the same erosion problems as Manly Dam? I want to ride this week and with Manly Dam being my local ride I am obviously avoiding that area until it dries out. I didn't want to ride the Cascades area (which I have never ridden before) and get in trouble for doing so.

Can anyone advise?

Cheers

As the main routes at Cascades are firetrail only then there is no reason you shouldn't ride them from an erosion point of view.

However... it will undoubtedly be very wet and the sand will grind your drive train and brakes into oblivion. But if that doesn't worry you... Eye-wink

IMO Cascades holds up quite well in the rain, but there are a few climbs that have clay sections and its like a bog (clay pit), that'll clag up everything. Being in a bowl, water will seep out for days, me personally after cleaning the bike ready for the ChocFoot, I wont be going anywhere near there for awhile.

Cheers for the advice guys. I too had prepped my bike for the opener of the Chocolate Foot SRAM series. Gutted the rain came. I'm going to take my chances with Sydney traffic for a few rides then head up to Awaba over the weekend. Hopefully I won't be adding to the Crash Statistic forum!

Ps. That Quarry Track Climb looks pretty meaty, first time I head down there I’ll be recording and posting my time on the Hot Laps Section... Expecting it to hurt!
