What a great sport!

Hey guys. Just thought it would let everyone know about a fantastic experience I had with a few other riders in Terry Hills last night.

I went for a night ride last night at Terry Hills just perimeter and long originally by myself. I parked at the Japanese school and unloaded my bike. A bunch of riders happened to appear. They invited me to ride with them. I thought great a bit of company. Off we went. These guys / girl were pretty quick so it was good training for me to keep up with them. They were happy enough to stop at occasionally for me to catch up. We made it to the end of long with no dramas. On the return journey I shifted at the wrong time on a bit of a steep climb and snapped my chain. In my head I thought great I don't have any quick links i'll have to walk back to the car. Luckly Hano (one of the riders) had a few spare so we patched my chain up and we were off again. We then had a bit more bad luck when Shane's front shock collapsed on him. Then Hano came off on a sandy corner and managed to bend his rear hanger which stopped him from shifting gears. We limped back to the car and said our good byes.

I can't think of any sport I have been envolved with that strangers would invite you to ride with them then give you a helping hand when you need it. So many friendly and helpfull people in this sport it's great to know that someone will always be willing to help you. Keep up the great work. If Hano happens to read this send me an email because I owe you a beer for that link you gave me.

I'll be buying some links and a chain breaker tomorrow just incase it happens to me again.

You wouldn't get this from the roadies...

really? I find most cyclists are equally helpful, although the secluded nature of MTB almost necessitates being nicer to your fellow riders out on the tracks.

you have a fair point though, I'll have to remember to be more of an asshole when I'm out ridding the road bike... Cool
