What do you guys think perimeter and long or duckhole and centre and maybe a detour to chiltern up and back down? It might take us a bit longer if we do chiltern so we might miss the pub dinner. I'm easy just want to ride.

Hey guys,
I've never ridden Terry Hills but i'm keen too. Would it be ok if I tag along wednesday night??
Thanks
Darren

I'm a newbie Nobmob night rider, ridden perimeter and long, many times in the day and night. It is an easy fire trail with not to many hills and a good look out at the end. (pity you want see much in the dark). Good steak at the pub aferwards too.

I would really like to do this one but currently don't have lights. Having never riden through the bush at night what kind of lights do you guys use? I assume you would need more than just your average road bike light as there will be no street lights.

Brian's picture

You do need decent lights. These are a very common, light and reliable one

We've had this discussion once or twice Smiling, most of the answers are in this thread

If you'd like I've got a spare 1300 lumen light you can borrow for tomorrow night, the one I normally use on my bars. I'll be there so we can fit you up in the carpark very quickly. Ideally you should have a helmet light as well but for fire trails the bar light will be fine (I'll be riding just with a 900 lumen bar light). Let me know

Cheers for the offer, but I think I'll wait for the next night ride. I'll look that link over and organise some lights by then.

Tip for the newcomers:

It's probably a good idea to bring some dry clothes to change into for the the post ride meal ...

Not much fun sitting in a sweaty and cold chamoix while catching up post-ride in the pub.... Smiling

Brian's picture

I'm in. Seems like I haven't ridden for ages.

Brian's picture

It's going to be a balmy 14 degrees tonight. See you there Smiling

but will try to be there.

Thanks for the ride. I wasn't expecting the pace which I have as and average moving speed of 20.9km/h. A few more of those before the Husky would be sweet Smiling

Great ride - that was fun - look forward to doing that one again - must become a regular ride

Guys, I was sitting at home last night at 6:45 wondering if I could be bothered tho get off the sofa, looking for excuses not to go.

Somehow the lure or a cold, dark, dusty track followed by a beer or two in the pub took hold....

That was one of the most enjoyable rides I have done for a while, perfect to regain my riding mojo after some bad events, accidents, incidents and mechanical issues. The weather held out, the track was dusty (surprisingly) and the company was great - everything I started riding for in the first place.

Thanks....
