Just sharing my build of a bush commuter

surly pacer (real steel)

changes from standard = MTB cluster (36tooth bail outs)
SLX derailer to allow for the big cogs.

double wrap bars (for comfort over the gravel)

33mm CX tires by Maxis

spds for ease of bike swaps.

I will use this for commutes from up the hiils to Midland way along the bridal trail and other fire roads. Plus road time on the flat.

I rides real well with plenty of give in the frame for the bumps. The weight is high though by it'll be pretty bomb proof.

I did the 70kms to Northam via the Kep on it last year. It was great appart from the roadie breaks on the steep sections into Northam.
