Hi all.
I want to post this ride because I'm always keen on meeting new people, and (I hate saying this) people often ask me (or Jenny) for advice at races when we really dont have time to talk, so this is a good chance.

However - this wont be a slow ride. Its probably race pace for most people (how do you say that without sounding arrogant?!?!?!?)
Myself and Jenny (Fay) will be heading to Wingello on Sunday morning for a 4 hr ride.
For more clarity, or a benchmark, she rode 4.28 at Convict this year, and I rode 4.02 (ish)...
Its likely to involve 2 Red loops, and 2 Yellow loops. Probably alternating. After each lap, its back to the car, fresh bottle, then push on.

The first red loop will be ridden fairly easily, but is still likely to feel fast for some - only because we dont stop at all. Especially not at the top of climbs (cardinal training sin #1 - stopping at the top of a climb). It may be that we roll slowly for a bit, but not really stop.

You are welcome to come along, even for one loop, and join us, but I hate feeling bad for leaving people behind - so I'm putting it out there that it will be 20kph average speed. The ride will start slower though, with the speed increasing througout - so maybe the first loop will be closer to 18kph.
We'll get there for 8ish, to start the ride at 8.30

And CX the week after but keen to get a run down there before the fling.
Let me know if you go down again?

Gaz, you have a week's break between this weekend and CX.... Lucky you MORE training!

Now need to find a way to punish myself on that weekend off!

Hey Anthony, I'm keen to join you, just making arrangements with family. Will confirm tomorrow. I'm training for the half fling so looking to do a ride at race pace for about 3hrs. Of course race pace for me is a bit slower than you guys... But hopefully I can maintain 18-20kph.

The only way you're gonna know - is to come along! I'm pretty sure you'll be fine. THere are no ego's at all when we ride (one of the rules) so its just a fast rolling pace.
Jen is gonna do an experiment and take her hardtail and her dually and do some un-scientific timed laps / sections to compare.
Maybe see you down there.

Hi anthony, was planning to ride wingello on Sunday so I might as well join you guys .
Good inspiration to not stop at the top of the hills. Craig

Not sure if I'll make it now... Fell off my bike a few days ago and my shoulder is pretty sore today. Will go for a ride tomorrow and see how it feels.

Something has come up ,and I won't have time for a wingello trip so I am out ,have a good ride !

I'm out too. Went for a short ride this morning and the shoulder felt fine. Then did some pushups this afternoon and now I can barely raise my arm.

Have fun, I'll join you next time.

Thanks Ants and Jenny for the hit out. And what a fantastic spring day for a ride !

Hey - it was a good ride.
We did a red, a yellow, and a red. The first red was done at about 18kph, then the yellow was faster (it is always faster) and then finished with a bit more of a 'no holds barred' Red loop attack, which ranged in speed. I took it round at 22kph in the end.

Tracks were in fantastic condition. Just two puddles to splash through, lots of dust and dirt in the corners - so ran the tyres low. The Wall still doesnt get any easier, in fact, I reckon its a bit looser given the Red loop officially doesnt include it anymore.
Also - lots and lots of loose sticks and braches out there to catch rear mechs, and spokes.
We need more people riding the lap to move these to the track-side.

Weather was amazing. Fresh in the shade, warm in the sun.
'Doc' rode well after a heavy few rides preceeding, and was fine keeping up.

See you down there again soon....

Agree re some of the dust and dirt in corners. I got caught out on one and lost the front end - hit the deck face first and spent ~10 minutes checking to make sure I still had all my teeth! (I do, thankfully)

The sticks across the track seem to be a constant for the last couple of times i've ridden the red loop - I took off a load on Saturday morning, so perhaps more blew down that night before you went out.
