Hey, just wondering what a basic kit to take out on rides would be for most people
lights, tubes tools etc.

bike tools- chain breaker,hex keys,screwdrivers
spare tubes
patches
tyre levers
pump
derailleur hanger
first aid kit
thermal blanket in winter
gu or food
painkillers
pack of snakes
mobile phone
gps
hunting knife (optional)
chain links
cable ties
gaffa tape
lube
light rainjacket
nobmob phone book
glasses
sweatbands/headbands
beer/coffee money ...plastic notes are handy for sidewall repairs
a note on your kitchen table where your going and when your back..Eye-wink
that should be enough for anything over 2hrs Eye-wink

That would be a seriously heavy camelbak. Definitely not what you want to be carrying around on your local Red Hill jaunt. But, you could also add in: shock pump Smiling

I carry most of that with no bother, would be about the same weight as the 5 tubes that you should carry on every ride...

Headbands and hunting knife though... is there something you're not telling us Shane, needle and thread for impromptu stitches too??

make sure one of your fellow riders is weighed down with the 10kg camelbak carrying all that heavy stuff - then all you need to take is some food & water Eye-wink
