Hi Everyone,

I'm lucky to be part of a campaign to change the lives of indigenous Australians through positive action to provide real jobs and training across the country. The initiative is financially backed by Andrew Forrest, Kerry Stokes and James Packer and we launched the campaign last night at Sydney Opera House.

This is not a political movement but is about corporate Australia coming together with local community to guarantee jobs for indigenous Australians and provide better training rather than just throwing welfare money at the problem. So far we have 25,000 jobs pledged from big business.

This is not about trying to tell people what to do but to listen to community input and find out what they need to make things change. One statistic alone stands out in all the facts - 75% of non-indigenous Australians live past 65 whereas only 25% of indigenous people do.

A large media campaign begins Monday but meanwhile if you're interested in supporting this campaign you can visit the website to find out more, register your support or even pledge to employ someone.

I wouldn't ordinarily post this sort of thing but I've been closely involved with this and truly believe that this could make a difference. We don't want this to be just another media campaign that dies down in a few months with no results.
