Nifty 50

Great event. Track was good, with plenty of fire trail to sort everyone out to start with, then a good deal of interesting single track and plenty of little used fire trail that was fun to ride. No major hills. Only negative was a few serious bog holes which meant another mud dunking for my newish shoes. There were some seriously deep sections there (4WD wheel ruts under muddy water) but not too bad if you walked along the edges. I saw one guy behind me go in up to the top of his front wheel. Overall good vibe and happy group of competitors it seemed, but maybe the slightly lower than "normal" numbers helped with that aspect.

Did my best time ever for a 50, but the category ranking was a bit low as the unorthodox age ranges had me competing against 40 year olds! Would have made 8th in the real oldies category if it had been on two months later.

Well done to those Nobmobbers who podiumed.

BTW, the Blackheart folks confirmed afterwards that they would be sticking with the June date for next year's event rather than reverting to February.
